President Donald Trump is poised to roll out a $12 billion farm aid package to support farmers, according to the White House.

The aid package will provide up to $11 billion toward the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) new Farmer Bridge Assistance Program, which is designed to provide single payments to row crop farmers, while the remaining $1 billion will go to farmers whose crops do not qualify for the program.

Further details will be hashed out as the USDA continues to evaluate market conditions, according to the White House.

The president is expected to unveil the new aid package at a Monday roundtable at the White House. Those expected to appear at the event include Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins, as well as corn, soybean, rice and other types of farmers.

It will help the farmers who lost their crops this past years due to weather modifications.

If all farmers disappeared in the U.S., it would lead to immediate, catastrophic food shortages, mass starvation, economic collapse, and the end of civilization as we know it, as agriculture underpins food, clothing (cotton, wool), and many medicines; land would revert to wilderness, but without expertise, production would halt, leaving cities to die, while the long-term effects involve complete reliance on dwindling foreign supplies and synthetic alternatives, ultimately meaning no one would survive without a return to basic food gathering.

This is AI, so a grain of salt. I’m getting old, none of my three kids want anything to do with it, four years of drought, if Mr. Trump wants to allocate some money to the American farmer, which is some of my Fed Income Tax dollars I’m ok with that.

Farmer grew crops, such as soybeans, anticipating typical demand from China. Supposedly the tariffs changed the Chinese orders, so farmers took a hit.

Markets should have some stability and predictability, of course some is uncontrollable but where there is a direct effect, there is no harm in using the tariff funds to correct some of that.

I too support our farmers and trust the Trump administration to equitably disburse our funds in a manner befitting our great Country.
This has not been the case for previous government doles a lot of which have had their feathers trimmed thanks to President Trump.

We need a free market in agriculture, not more people added to the dole because they are Trump supporters.

We have acquaintances that ranch. It is not their primary source of income. Mostly they enroll in every government program they can find. Got 20,000.00 one year for mowing pastures from center outwards. Got 70,000.00 drought relief. They have water rights from a river that boarders the property. There is a propane tank ,generator, and pump right there. Everyone wants to take more out of the pot, than they put in it.
