Notre Dame Withdraws from Bowl Game Consideration After CFP Committee Snub 5 PALO ALTO, CA - NOVEMBER 29: Head Coach Marcus Freeman of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish lDavid Madison/Getty Images Dylan Gwinn7 Dec 2025296 2:55 On Sunday, the College Football Playoff (CFP) Committee told Notre Dame that its presence in this year’s playoff was not needed. A couple of hours later, Notre Dame informed college football that if they weren’t competing for a national championship, they weren’t interested in playing at all.
“We appreciate all the support from our families and fans, and we’re hoping to bring the 12th national title to South Bend in 2026,” Notre Dame said in a statement.

I think that after you re-reading your suggestions you must realize that college football is a joke.
Used to be a fun rivalry “ our institution of higher education has better athletes and scholars than yours”
Now it’s what sports organization can attract phenomenal athletes and have them perform in such a way to generate income for themselves, the coaches, and the schools. Education? Surely you jest.
WGAS anymore? Only reason I would care is if I were a gambler. I would not be surprised if whole underdog teams bet on the opposing team to cover the spread. Good money in losing and WGAS anyway?
They are not as good as Miami and Texas A&M so they should stop whining about getting snubbed for the playoffs.
My school lost to just 1 team that is ranked higher than both schools that Notre Dame lost against & they got snubbed. I am not complaining because teams that lose games have no right to complain about being snubbed for the national title.
I Uh, maybe becuase of their shitty record... 7-5?
And they still got picked for division playoffs, despite Miami being 10-2.
Bump!
Mimai crushed Notre Dame when they played, yet the committee still tried to push Notre Dame ahead.
I think the committee’s 2AM meeting fixing that stupidity was to save themselves from getting skinned alive.
Ironically, it allowed my alma mater, App State, to get into a bowl game despite a losing record. We also play our former Southern Conference rival Georgia Southern. Both teams have multiple FCS natties.
When we win, we will both be 6-7
A few years ago, only 4 teams were invited to the playoffs, and the 5th team would complain about being snubbed.
Now there are 12 teams invited, and of course the 13th team complains about being snubbed.
Soon, there will be 16 teams invited to the playoffs, and the 17th team will complain.

Note Dame got beat fairly convincingly against good competition. The rest of their schedule was a cakewalk. If they played in the SEC, they would’ve had a 500 record.
Keep the transfer, but require a standardized test demonstrating academic advancement, you and I can develop and monitor that test.
ND’s schedule is unusually weak this year, including 3 wins against 2-10 teams. Going forward they’re going to have trouble scheduling any top team who see bigger downsides of playing quality teams outside their 9 conference games. Texas will play Michigan and tOSU in 26/27 but is already reconsidering playing ND in 2028 and 2029.
Wow. I like it. I think it would work.
Gentlemen, beware of incoming as you have piqued the ire of the anti-Boomers.
And they still got picked for division playoffs, despite Miami being 10-2.
Another reason that the ACC is doomed. The stadium was half-full for the Championship Game. Even the Miami Hurricanes drew more home fans than went to the ACC Championship Game.
Miami did not crush Notre Dame. They won 27-24, the game went right down to the wire.
Another issue is that, with rosters changing so much from year to year, and no exhibition games, it might take a few games for a team to take shape. How else do you explain Bama losing to FSU.
One thing you’ll see now as a result is that teams will not schedule tough out-of-conference games at the beginning of the season, they will play the cupcakes at the beginning.
And USC being national champions every year. ;)
Yep. There were two different standards employed by the CFP. That shouldn’t happen. One standard for all.
