It is as yet unclear which 'other things' Harper is referring to, but the Phillies will certainly be hoping the medical procedures can boost the health of its $330million superstar, who is contracted through 2031 - by which time he'll be 39.
Phillies first baseman Bryce Harper has shocked fans by revealing that he has undergone a bizarre offseason procedure to remove a third of his blood from his body.
Fear not, though, baseball fans - it was returned soon after, but is just the latest cutting-edge medical treatment finding its way into the top level of sport.
Taking to Instagram, the 33-year-old - seemingly in the hope of finding a way to elongate his career and improve his health - posted a photo of himself hooked up to machines, alongside his doctor.
'EBOO is a procedure in which 1/3 of your blood is drawn from your body, passed through a filtration and ozonation device, and then returned to your bloodstream,' he explained, in a now-viral post.
He then went on to explain all the benefits, revealing: 'Circulates your blood outside your body. Exposes the blood to ozone (O₃) and will oxygenate or filter the blood before returning it to you.
'This will: Improve circulation, Reduce inflammation, Fight infections, Support immune function, Remove toxins, Increase energy.

Careful now. You are leaning into some interested never talked about situations concerning sports and training medicine. For many years, there have been procedures and medications used by pro sports players and teams for enhancement. And some of the ones found out about left a real problem with the public.
You’re right, but the blood cleaning is just a small part of it. Go into the pain medications and their misuse, steroid enhancement, oxygen shakes, nightly IV’s some at hospitals, and the 100’s of enhancement meds carried by the players themselves. This was really opened up when it was discovered Bill Romanowski was carrying a tackle box full of them. And he wasn’t the only one. But the fans don’t care how they get their bang for their buck, they just want it. And so do he kids in lower levels to get the big bucks.

Correct. I can foresee kidney dialysis providers expanding into this business after procedures get approval for the general public.
They reinfected the blood after the body naturally replaced what was drawn and then reinfect it before the event giving you an extra pint in the blood system.
This guy is just hooked up to a quackery machine which circulates the blood through a few hoses and a peristaltic pump and goes right back in. Nothing was removed. Just rerouted.
If you read the article it removes the blood, runs it thru a filter and does a couple more things tjen returns your bllod to your body
so he voluntarily went on dialysis.
You're going to need a bigger leech.
The Tour D'France was (is?) plagued by blood doping. This ozone procedure is not blood doping. If this enhances a cyclists performance then they will do it. My guess is that this blood ozonation cannot be done more than once a month. So a Tour D'France cyclist would have to pick a crucial time in the race to do this.
