Peter Schiff has challenged President Trump to a debate about the U.S. economy after the president verbally attacked him for speaking on the affordability crisis.
Despite the growing concern among Americans regarding inflation, President Trump continues to claim that prices are falling and the economy is recovering.
Financial commentator Peter Schiff publicly challenged President Donald Trump on Saturday after the president attacked him on Truth Social for appearing on Fox & Friends Weekend.
The presidentâs attack on Schiff was in response to his discussing the affordability crisis facing Americans during his morning television appearance on December 6, 2025.
Trump posted on Truth Social, questioning why Fox & Friends would host Schiff. The president described Schiff as a âTrump hating loser who has already proven to be wrong.â
Trump insisted that prices are substantially reducing and blamed former President Joe Biden for creating the affordability crisis. He claimed gasoline hit $1.99 per gallon in certain states and that other prices are almost all down.
Hours later, Schiff responded on X, challenging Trump or his designee to a debate on the U.S. economy and the effectiveness of his policies. In a separate post, Schiff suggested Trump should change the name of his social media platform to âLie Social,â considering his dislike for the truth

President Joe Biden for creating the affordability crisis.
He increased inflation to a peak of 9.2% and some wonder why theirs a affordability crisis it take time to get things right Trump is on the right track for it.
Eggs are $1.96 per dozen at a nearby Aldi.
Schiff is NOT deep state. Ask him what the deep state did to his bank.
The first thing that needs to be determined, that’s what’s causing the affordability issues.
I believe that this is a nexus of multiple causes. 1. A generation that believed that they should be given things instead of earning them. 2. The Biden administration squander the treasury to try to bring in new voters from other countries. 3. Corruption, unchecked, in government run by a shadowy few is destroying the value of currency. 4. Congress that refuses to balance, the budget. 5. Enormous trade deficits compounded by poor trade agreements and failure to respond to other nations predatory economic policies. 6. Clinging to Keynesian economic models of printing money without production. 7. Endless wars. 8. Attempting to transition to a ‘nanny state’ of guaranteed income, subsidies, EBT cards, ect, ect. 9. Fake government jobs to employ people with fake degrees. 10. Government intervention into healthcare. 11. The blocking of energy production, especially BTU efficient and cheap forms. 12. Drugs and the destruction of people and cost to society. 13. Civil legal system that allows people to do Lawfare without repercussions. 14. Failure to support blue collar workers and farmers. 15. The CIA and CCP release of COVID-19 for political purposes. 16. Replacing Americans with HB-1 visa people and foreign trained workers. These vectors combine to cause devaluation of currency, cause prices to soar, making things unaffordable.
The reality of the above crisis is real. The root causes HAVE BEEN and CONTINUE TO BE democrats core policies:
1. Unfettered immigration and open borders. 2. Obamacare and its insurance and insurance executives bailouts.. 3. Obama and continuous wars 4. Green movement and CO2 hoax (watermelons). 5. NGO and financial spending. 5. Democrat administrations and Janet Yellen presiding over 2/3rd of the debt. 6. No Jobs and direct attack on entrepreneurship 7. Destroying small business (see Obama/Biden). 8. Destroying Tariffs, and promoting horrible trade agreements. 9. Morally bankrupt generation that supported all the policies that led to affordability problems, and blames the ‘rich’ and hates Trump, and attacks entrepreneurs. 10. Supporting, grifting, and enabling theft from government programs and ‘Government Unions’ that exist to grift. 11. Failure to hold Congress to account and failure to push for Balanced budget Amendment with teeth. 12. Federal support of biological weapons research out of the US. 13. Lawfare and legal system abuse. 14. Idiotic environmental policies that are neither environmental or helpful.
Affordability crisis is real, and it’s absolutely the result of nearly 34 years of ‘big government’ politicians Democrats and those that voted for them hold a huge portion of the responsibility. The clinging to failed Keynesian economic policies, in an attempt to bring socialism and destroy the United States, is a big part of it. Everybody should be talking about cause and effect, on every channel, until it sinks in to the public.
Illegals being deported and self-deporting dramatically reduces demand for housing, resulting in lower prices.
Good for the young and renters, bad for current owners.
” don’t have time for a grudge match with every poser in a parka!” - Dr Horrible
Of course there is an affordability crisis and it stems from the democrat management of the economy during Biden’s term. Trump cannot turn this ship around on a dime if he were to do the exact right thing at the exact right time at all times. It takes time to change an economy, especially with the number of giant holes in it left by the democrats.
Schiff should not go on TV attacking Trump’s management without mentioning the difficulties caused by the democrats with Biden.
Gas prices in our area are at about $2.68 down from $3.05 but nowhere near $1.99. Prices at the grocery are still inching up except for cheese and eggs.My coffee pods just inched up another 20 cents.
Housing had an extremely longer than average run up in pricing.
From extreme lows after the Great Recession to the highs brought on by Covid and the resulting exit from the liberal cities and states.
Now, we are finally having a pull back in general across the country with the exception of the northeast and the Midwest.
This is to some extent some of the people who moved to AZ, FL, TX and other spots are moving back to IL, CT and even NY
The majority of the housing starts by the national builders are still in the south. With the exception of places like Boise.
Up north real estate is too expensive to build large subdivisions.
In locations like here in NH a big subdivision has maybe 30-50 houses and people even freak out over those with 3-5 acre lots and a seven figure price tag.
There are places like Austin that have already seen as much as a 20% correction since 2022.
Then there are places like Orlando that are now in the top ten metro areas for starts/permits in the country for the first time.
The two largest volume metro areas are still Dallas/Fort Worth and Houston.
Third place is Phoenix and it is 2/3 of what the first two are.
Texas , Florida and Az have more building than the whole northeast combined.
CA is still building too. Except it is LA, the valley and San Diego.
San Francisco has less starts than Boise.
However, here are the biggest news.
The number one growth market as a percentage of increase from 2024 to 2025 is DETROIT.
The second largest increase as a percentage is Columbus, OH.
Even places like Buffalo, Cleveland, KC and Chicago are seeing real growth.
If you had any courage you’d discuss the lies amplified by your boy Rand, and shared by you regarding Secretary Hegseth and the narco boat strikes.
But I get it, your TDS doesn’t allow for any mea culpas. You’re the same as the Legacy Media. You just ignore one lie and move on to a new squirrel.
Doubling the "minimum wage"?
You are correct but I wonder if there is a way to sunset fiat over time and to go back to gold (or another system) over the course of some years so it’s not a huge disaster all at once
Bwahahaha. Publicity hounds never change.
I agree to every point of your post.

Democrats Frank and Dodd, who ran oversight on Freddie and Fannie blocked reform. Everybody with a working brian knew it was possible, but when and where and how bad were unknown.
“Peter Schiff is annoyed because he’s Deep State.”
We’ve had one crash he predicted and he’s predicted many things that didn’t happen. I made a lot of easy money during the one he was right about. Predicting it didn’t matter, there was plenty of time to act after it became obvious.
Crashes bring the best opportunities, 2008 was a beauty, too easy. So was ‘79, when I learned how to take advantage of them. If I’d had more money I could have really made out but the education was the most valuable thing.
I agree.
As a multi-billionaire Trump would make mince meat out of Shiff in a debate
Trum0 also, unlike Shiff, will receive the Noble Peace Price in 2026 for ending the war Ukraine. Oh yeah!
No way i know of, has to be a quick and clean break involving a Bank holiday.
