A Brazilian Harvard Law School professor who pleaded guilty last month to illegally firing an air rifle outside a Boston-area synagogue — and told police he was “hunting rats” — has agreed to leave the US following his arrest by Immigration and Customs Enforcement this week.
Carlos Portugal Gouvea, 43, copped Nov. 13 to a single charge of illegal use of the air rifle in connection with the Oct. 2 incident outside of Brookline’s Temple Beth Zion, which took place on Yom Kippur, the holiest day in Judaism.
The scholar was arrested by ICE Boston Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Wednesday and agreed to return to Brazil voluntarily to avoid deportation, according to the Department of Homeland Security.
“It is a privilege to work and study in the United States, not a right,” DHS spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin said in a statement. “There is no room in the United States for brazen, violent acts of anti-Semitism like this. They are an affront to our core principals [sic] as a country and an unacceptable threat against law-abiding American citizens.”

My cousins all had BB guns at 11ish. Dad said no and started teaching me about gun safety, etc. using his 410/22 over and under. Then he got a new 12 Gauge auto and gave me the over and under. He said: “Some people think BB guns are toys. Guns aren’t toys.” That was when I also learned about the wood plug he had to put in the 12 gauge so it would only hold 3 shells.
A 12 gauge auto with 7 shells, now THAT’S a weapon.
Rat plinking is a great for marksmen training, if you can hit Rats consistently then you should have not problem shooting something as big as burglar.....don’t for to get

According to the story: "...After firing two shots, Gouvea was confronted by the synagogue’s private security, leading to a “brief physical struggle” before the suspect fled inside his home near the house of worship, according to a police report...
They make it sound like his house was right next to the synagogue somewhere...There was an article at Boston.com (a completely Leftist website) that stated: “From what we were initially told by police, the individual was unaware that he lived next to, and was shooting his BB gun next to, a synagogue or that it was a religious holiday..."
And one of his pellets hit the window of a car. Granted, he may have been shooting at a rat on the ground and it ricocheted off into a window. But I doubt it. I am sure he never took a gun handling course where he learned to be sure of what is behind your target.
I think this guy, his lawyer, and Boston.com are full of crap. He was unaware he lived next door to a synagogue? Really? And further unaware the parking lot was full? He did this on a Thursday night, not a typical day of worship I presume, but Yom Kippur. And he didn't wonder "Gee. I never see cars like that on a Thursday night right next door to my house. What could be going on there? I think I am going to hunt for some rats tonight."
Not buying any of his story. You can bet if he was a conservative, his protestations of innocence would not have resulted in dropped charges.
The charges being dropped were no doubt due to Harvard leadership exerting influence both in the Temple and in the Brookline Police Department to get the charges dropped. Without any proof, I will bet a lot of Jewish Harvard Staff live in Brookline.

NJ is also famous for banning slingshots, which is a story in itself. Idiots at NJ legislature approved the law that made slung shots illegal in 1920s. Some clerk made a grammatical mistake and the lawmakers voted to ban “slingshots”. And so it goes to this day, get a slingshot in NJ, it’s a fine of $5000 or couple of years jail time. There is a group that fights to get rid of this ridiculous law, so far without success….
That overall area Newton, Chestnut Hill, Brookline has a large Jewish population. There was a guy named Scott Hayes who was standing by a street with the Israeli flag and was attacked by a Leftist scumbag who began yelling at him from across the street, then ran at full tilt and tackled him. Scott Hayes ended up shooting him in the scuffle.
The whole thing was captured on video, with this unhinged Leftist screaming and tackling him, and...they ended up charging...Scott Hayes!
I was looking at a picture of him, and realized he was the same guy my wife and I saw standing outside a pro-Palestinian demonstration in Harvard Square in Cambridge with his military hat and Israeli flags in each hand. I chatted with him, shook his hand, and thanked him for standing out against those people.
Next time I saw him was a few months later after he had been arrested and his picture was in the newspaper.
Shameful that he was arrested. Shameful. But it is a state run by the execrable Marxist, Leftist, Lesbian gun-grabber Maura Healy, so that fits.
I ended up donating to Scott Hayes go-fund-me, and he did "kind of" get the charges dropped. Absolute scum running this state.
