“Thinner designs: Soldering allows manufacturers to create much thinner laptops by eliminating the need for RAM slots, which add bulk.”

No one is asking for thinner taptops, phones, etc. They tend to bend and break. It’s a cost savings.

“Space efficiency: It saves space on the motherboard, allowing for more flexible component placement.”

In other words, a cost savings.

“Performance: Direct soldering can lead to more reliable, high-speed connections compared to a traditional socketed connection.”

…if the manufacturer can actually solder a BGA on the board with the crappy solder available today without a few popping off just after the warranty is out.

“There are some languages today where you can’t do that in 20 megabytes.”

Which ones?“

Any language implemented with poor library managemrnt, where they just bind in the kitchen sink whether you need it or not. It doesnt have to be this way, but no one cares anymore. Nature abhors a vacuum. I demonstrated this with a version of Visual C++ a long time ago.

If I started a company to fill this manufacturing gap, the brand name would be Black Betty. It's a thinker.

LOL!

Decades ago the Commodore Amiga chipset had names like Denise for the video processor and Agnus for the main CPU. If you upgraded it was to the Super Denise and the Fat Agnus (or higher to the Fatter Agnus). I never used that for pick up lines (Honey, you look like you've got some processing power!).

I recently doubled my investment in Texas Instruments as they are ramping up their chip manufacturing here in the US. Given that they also pay a nice dividend, it seemed like a smart move. :-)

Been a few years since I coded in C++ but my recollection differs from your posts.

Ha! Uncle Albert / Admiral Halsey played on Sirius / XM Deep Tracks 308 while I was doing a 3-1/2 driver earlier. A favorite song/album from my youth.

Wouldn't buy from your company --- I'm afraid it would have a child, and the damn thing gone wild.

Using that for a pickup line back at that time could backfire, some retort using some floppy disk variation.

😄 I'd diversify with a line of displays called Better LED.

I tended to program in AB (AppleSoft BASIC), which is, ironically, younger than C.

Meant hours, but look at you with those fancy hard plastic hi-capacity 1.44M diskettes. I’ve just got 360k 5-1/4” floppies.

Good point. Especially given floppy disc size had shrunk to 3.5” LOL

I tried the Kraft Heinz language, but could only manage "Jello World".
Rimshot!
