Lewis said she watched the suspect run away as onlookers helped her off the ground and checked to make sure she was okay.

Michael Blanco - Griselda Blanco’s son - told a similar story about how, when he was 7 or 8 years old, he grabbed a woman’s backside at his parents’ party because of the same reason - Latin machismo culture. The woman’s husband screamed at Michael. The one twist here is that Blanco’s father then took the husband out behind the house and killed him.
With respect to this story, the newspaper is inappropriately making light of this situation by calling this guy a “spanker”. He assaults them; it doesn’t matter that he hits them on the backside. That still is assault. And he pulls their hair too. If they were alone, he might do worse.
I’ve often heard of it happening in Italy, as well. It’s probably not as common now as it used to be; but it’s still done.
