Comically, that’s what we do NOW, though we use the motor driven ice cream maker. It’s exactly like the old hand crank ones except the hand crank is replaced by a motor on top.

“...in the early 60’s...”

What I was describing was central California in the early 50’s. It was a good life and I wish my kids could have witnessed parts of it. It’s dramatically different now with more people, less ranch property, and a horde of illegals.

What I have now is western Washington near JBLM and many times that lack of electricity problem still exists here when they go down or the grid goes tango uniform...often. Might as well not be available. And worse than that I am wasting calories with my diabetes so I seldom consume any ice cream anymore. I will still make it occasionally for family functions, but I can’t eat it. And it does tease me.

Keep an eye out for Tim Taylor. He’ll re-wire it. More power, more power...!

Yes, that’s why we don’t stock up on ice cream. It shouts at us from the freezer. So we buy small amounts. Hubby is into Dairy Queen blizzards right now when he figured out they have a peanut butter fluff/Reeses. The evening after Thanksgiving, at 745, he said ‘get your coat on, we are going to DQ’. Well you don’t have to ask twice. That was my supper! Plus my mother used ice cream to bribe us into many things, perms, hair cuts, good behavior. My parents owned a convenience store in the 50’s & 60’s. They sold everything including the best hand dipped ice cream.

“If the milkfat isn’t being put in the ice creams, then where is it going?.”

Butter, heavy cream, cheese, ice-cream (with a higher markup)

I remember when frozen dairy dessert was called ice milk. And it was cheaper than ice cream.
