The Department of the Interior announced a series of changes Tuesday for America the Beautiful passes, which cover entry and amenity fees at over 2,000 federally managed areas, including the country’s national parks. Among the differences visitors can expect beginning in 2026 are new digital passes, original artwork featuring President Donald Trump and “America-first” prices that will see international visitors paying steeper fares.
A mockup of the new design does away with the traditional images of scenic vistas or species like bighorn sheep and instead shows Trump beside a painted rendering of George Washington — a bold choice that has caused at least one spit take.
“For a person who has done so much to remove protections from significant federally protected lands to put his face directly on the national park access pass is extremely disingenuous, if not outright hurtful to the conservation community overall,” says California-based naturalist and redwood forest guide Justin Legge. “We would not have national parks, or protected federal lands in general, if leaders with those ideals were in place while we were in the process of creating them.”
If you ask Bill Wade, executive director for the Association of National Park Rangers, the new design may not be a selling point. “Given the damage that the Trump administration has done to America’s National Parks and their employees, I would not purchase one of these passes with his image on it,” he told SFGATE. “I would pay separately at each park to help that park overcome the damage.”

The foreign visitors pay more thing is hilarious, though. In my travels only the most Third World, backward and poor countries do that.
It sounds like the “park ranger” lefties need purged very badly. Fire at least 1/2 of them to start. If anyone there complains...fire them.

I agree. I think Trump - in the absence of real budget cutting - is often looking for revenue in wrong places.
So it’s a ‘mock up’ of the new design, is it actually the approved new design or something put out by one of the communists still polluting our government?
The point is not revenue but rather retribution
It should. I hate it when states have big signs on their highways promoting their governors.
Trump’s risk is overexposure, not underexposure.
Put your money where your mouth is, TDS conservationists. Pay full fare to enter the parks instead of the annual pass.
They won’t.

Blaming tourists for dumb things their governments do is just dumb. What you want to do is give tourists a better face of ourselves than their government portrays of us.
Outraged libs? Gee, that's never happened before. /rimshot
