Trump Is a Weak, Failing President, and the Media Is Finally Saying So
The New Republic ^ | 11/24/25 | Greg Sargent

Posted on 11/24/2025 3:08:39 PM PST by DallasBiff

As Trump’s downward spiral starts producing harsher media coverage, a writer who regularly dissects MAGA and political media explains why he’s entering a tailspin that will be very hard to reverse.

Suddenly, media outlets seem to have figured out that President Donald Trump is really, really unpopular. There’s been a palpable shift in the discourse: The New York Times reports that Republicans are quietly looking beyond Trump, suggesting he’s losing his grip on the party. Axios claims that it’s “red alert” time for Trump and the GOP. Politico describes how Republicans are getting routed in school board races, a sign that MAGA culture-warring has lost its sway and is even backfiring. And one CNN analyst offers a brutal reading of recent approval numbers on Trump, pronouncing them “atrocious.” We talked to Salon’s Amanda Marcotte, who regularly dissects MAGA and media foibles alike. We discuss why the political media smells blood, how deepening splits in MAGA show Trump’s weakness, what it means that the Trump-MAGA culture war and immigration raids are badly alienating ordinary voters, and how Trump is in a potentially irreversible tailspin. Listen to this episode here. A transcript is here.

No we don’t. We need to understand Trump is a winner. Get back to work

Enjoy life

He knows what’s happening on all fronts

He is not surprised like we are by these people

Look at this- today a senator was referred to the UCMJ and the entire military was addressed by the Sec War to get back to work

This is two months after Trump and Sec War addressed 800 generals and admirals each of whom have avg 75,000 under their command that they will follow orders or they can resign their commission

What Sec War said today on x was read by 14.8 million. Since this morning

Trump and Hegseth saw this

A story that would be true—if only its object had been Biden.

Republicans are quietly looking beyond Trump

Yes, the Republican snakes have been looking beyond Trump for ten years.

Here's the news for the GOP: Beyond Trump is the void.

THe GOP is the Trump party, or it is nothing at all.

I disagree with writer completely, Trump is not weak, strong in many areas and weak in others but one thing for sure Populist Presidents have short political lifespans as well as the movements they foster as they have no long term sustainable vision for the future, Teddy Roosevelt was Populist President and did great things like Trump but both did not last long or did their movements.

The Dems’ and Dem Socialists’ latest lockstep uniform statement is “Trump is losing MAGA support, the GOP is in a civil war and Trump’s approval is falling due to his food prices.”

All the panels, all the online news sources and all the politicians on their side happened by merest chance to all be saying that now.

Supplanted recent oldies “Trump has Epstein secrets that will destroy him” and “The shutdown is going on and hurting the GOP.” “Trump is a Nazi.”

One line in Trump’s 1987 book Trump: The Art of the Deal was:

“Never let your enemies define you.”

Trump has been in the arena for a decade now. He’ll leave office in January 2029. How much longer is your expectation level?

Also, if the GOP and democrats think they’re going back to the Bush/Clinton/Obama politics from 1992-2016, you’ll see a complete “tune out” from huge swaths of the electorate.

Your dismissal of Trump, while “dancing on the grave” of the MAGA movement is just a little bit premature.

They are busy covering the affordability crisis, caused by Bidenflation. They leave that part out of their coverage.
