WRIGHT COUNTY, Minn. (Gray News) - A man is accused of using a sledgehammer to kill a coworker at an industrial processing plant in Minnesota.
The Wright County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were initially called early Tuesday morning to Advanced Process Technologies in Cokato after a woman was found at her workstation with significant head trauma.
Authorities said a bloody sledgehammer was found on the floor next to the woman, who has not yet been publicly identified.
Paramedics tried to save the woman’s life, but she died at the scene from her injuries.
Investigators used surveillance footage and witness accounts to determine the woman died after she was hit multiple times with the sledgehammer by her co-worker, 40-year-old David Bruce Delong, according to the Wright County district attorney.
elong, of Watkins, allegedly admitted to a witness at the workplace that he attacked the woman.
“I hit her with your hammer. She is by your toolbox. She is gone,” the witness remembered Delong saying, according to court documents.
The district attorney’s filing also states that Delong confessed to law enforcement that he attacked the woman, that he did not like her and he had “been planning to kill the victim for some time.”
Delong was arrested at the scene and booked at the Wright County Jail on a second-degree intentional murder charge.

I was never a fan of some people at work. But damn…killing them with a sledgehammer? Wouldn’t it be easier to just fill out the form the right way?

Common sense hammer control laws...
wouldn’t have prevented this, but the virtue signalers would “feel” so much better.
At minimum, red flag laws implemented, hammers with more than a 10” handle, and hammers over 1 1/2 oz. weight should be banned.
We’re not sending ourselves our very best.
