A country hit made by artificial intelligence has climbed to the top of a Billboard chart - a first for the genre.
The song, "Walk My Walk," by an artist known as Breaking Rust, is now No. 1 on Billboard's Country Digital Song Sales chart. But the brooding, gravel-voiced cowboy behind the hit doesn't exist. At least, not in the traditional sense.
He's an AI creation with millions of streams, tens of thousands of followers and no verifiable human footprint.

Prescient lyrics. Except country music ain’t exactly a symphony, second or otherwise.
Name one country song it sounds like.
That is more like a corrupted blues tune than anything sang by a real country singer. Ever listen to Merle Haggard, Randy Travis, George Jones, Hank Williams or Hank Jr.?
I guess it might sound like Country to someone who has never heard a Country Singer sing a Country Song.
guess it shows how easy it is to write a country and western hit [just includes stuff about dogs, pickup trucks, drinking, girlfriends, wives, divorce ... the usual]
There are now many AI-produced videos of historical events that never happened. And by golly, they sure look convincing.
So the potential for misinformation is enormous.
As a side note, awhile back I was a website where you can pick a political figure (Trump, Biden, etc.), then type in what you want them to say.
Click “Done”, and you get a video of the person at a podium saying what you typed. Even the lip movements match. Scary.

It also has a very similar vibe to that song by Lil’ Nas X.
