Pope Leo offers his strongest criticism of Trump yet
BBC ^ | 11-6-25 | Sarah Rainsford

Posted on 11/07/2025 4:30:48 AM PST by MarlonRando

Speaking in English, and reaching a US audience directly, he reiterated the Catholic belief that every Christian will ultimately be judged on how they welcomed "the foreigner". In some of his strongest criticism to date of President Donald Trump's administration, the first ever US-born pope also warned that the US bombing of Venezuelan ships, suspected of carrying drugs, risked increasing tensions in the region.

In Iran they throw gay people off of buildings. In Africa, the slave trade is still rocking and rolling, plus Christian’s are being targeted for murder all over the world. Women are basically cattle and baby-machines for much of the planet. Maybe we could focus on those things.

I had a lot of hope for Leo, but he’s yet to address many of the real chronic issues in the Catholic church.

He has a giant papal estate outside Rome; let them house there the immigrants who come across the Med from Africa on small boats to Italy.

Pope will follow Christ. Christ says turn the other cheek. However, Donald Trump is tasked to do a job for a Republic. In that Republic there are those that are not Christians, but must be protected. The Pope has his flock, and Donald Trump has his, and both must protect and Shepards them. They are vastly different jobs, as the Pope is not able those who do not follow Christ. Donald Trump has an earthly obligation to protect this Republic and its Citizens, and I believe that God understands this, even if the Pope does not.

Awhile back I did a rough calculation. Based on its size, Vatican City can easily take in 2500 immigrants. And there is room in the Vatican gardens for apartment buildings to house them all.

How many immigrants has Leo taken in so far?
I’m guessing the number is around zero.

🤔

How relevant is this guy?
Last Pope hated Trump and Trump still won.

If the foreigner doesn’t come here than we don’t have to welcome them

Vatican City retains walls constructed in the past. Swiss guards provide security. Not very welcoming.

perhaps he’d better tend to his own knitting - so far he has muddied the waters of Catholic doctrine especialy vis-a-vis Traditional Latin Mass LBGTQ upsetting many devout Catholics. where is he on Christians in Nigeria-Sudan-Syria. those are actually squarely in his purview. and how many immigrants has the Vatican taken in?

When Saint John Paul II was Pope, he wrote that those migrating should be expected to assimilate.

If you come to the US, you should try your best to learn basic English in 20 years, and desire to become a productive US citizen, not just a newcomer looking for handouts. I get that it takes a while to learn English, but if you have that desire as a goal, I’m pretty sure you can do it. My grandma had to learn English as a second language, and it was very important to her to learn to speak it. Becoming a U.S. citizen was a source of great pride for her.

“…judged on how they welcomed “the foreigner”.

Can a pope really be this moronic? There are legal legitimate foreigners and illegal INVADERS. America has a loooooong history of welcoming the foreigners.

What has Leo done for the Christians being murdered in Nigeria? Leo needs to stay in his own lane.
