Pro-Palestinian positions may have fueled Mamdani’s politics and established his early volunteer base, but they didn’t win him the election. The New Yorkers who voted for him “overwhelmingly” said cost of living is their top issue, reported CNN.
For most New Yorkers who hit the polls, questions about Mamdani’s attitude toward Israel — and even concerns about antisemitism — paled in importance beside affordability.
Yet one tone-deaf Jewish leader after another pleaded with voters to reject Mamdani because of his highly critical attitude toward Israel. That stance, they said, could lead to attacks on Jewish New Yorkers.
Exactly why should economically besieged New Yorkers care?
Second, I suspect we will find out that a good portion of the Jewish voters who did opt for Mamdani did so not despite his stance on Israel, but because of it.
Most American Jews say Israel has committed war crimes against Palestinians. Some 68% are unhappy with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Most can’t vote against Netanyahu, but they can vote for Mamdani, or their local equivalent.
The Jewish vote for Mamdani was a rebuke to the mainstream Jewish leadership that organized against the mayor-elect. That leadership didn’t speak for these Jews. Mamdani did.
Above all, that “being overly controversial on Israel is not in his self-interest,” said Peter Dreier, a professor of politics at Occidental College in Los Angeles. “He needs to bring people together. He needs to focus laser-like on running the city and his affordability agenda.”

Lesson #4: Even though Muslims, like Jews, don’t eat pork. The Jews tend to have less problems from bacon lovers.
What is so astonishing about Mamdani’s win? He won the Dem primary, led the polls from the beginning and New York has been deep, deep blue almost forever.
They’ll be able to pay the jizya.
Forward has been a communistic rag for over a century. Which includes the sort of antisemitism (self- hate, Jewish Suicide Syndrome) so blatantly expressed in this article.
It is to very sad that they just never learn. But alas, they’re pretty sure heading themselves for a lesson this time. A very real and rude lesson.
The ironic thing is that Mamdani, like Biden, will cause inflation to run rampant. At least people will be punished for their stupidity (along with some who knew better than to vote for him).
Jews will have to see for themselves what is coming, telling them, indeed telling anyone about the dangers coming has never worked, ever. People will just have to witness for themselves the coming tribulations.
You really believe these that voted for socialism at the hand of a Muslim will ever admit they were wrong ...
NO to this day they blame the ‘far - right’ for Nazism socialists Hitler ... stuck on stupid ..
I am awake and I will throw their vile blood libels right back in their devil worshiping faces.
IT’S YOUR OWN FAULT
Wait until they find out how much “free” stuff costs.
What The Forward, a vastly Leftist “jewish” rag, cannot mention is that their leftism and imamdanny’s islamism are perfectly aligned in their #1 priority of Destroying Western Civilization.
Of course they won’t get it.
Lesson #5 Sometimes, Jews are their own worst enemy.
If they thoughy it would assuage their angst they would vote for public ovens ...
Is there a historic tendency to snatch defeat out of the jaws of victory?
I’m not sure if I even know any Jews here where I live, but this makes it sound like they don’t pay much attention to what the Bible has to say concerning Israel.
