Maybe beef prices will go down.
More BS fear porn
Look for surplus of junk food now!
yay for MAHA!
Won’t they just binge buy whenever the shutdown ends with their back pay?
Sounds like they’re going to have a nice surplus of goods and prices may need to go down without all that guaranteed government cheese money to buy their product. Damn those free market forces.
If US food companies are “bracing” for a drop in sales because food stamps are cut off, we have a big problem as a country. Food companies should not rely on government payments as part of their business model.
Junk food futures crash!
I’ve said for many years that the main function of welfare and food stamps is to subsidize companies like Wal-Mart. That is where the money actually ends up, after all.
And then companies like Walmart kick back $millions of campaign donations to the Rat party. Filthy bastards. /spit
Don’t diss the Sunny D man. Come on.
Food companies have powerful lobbies in DC to expand food stamps, including illegals.
Junk food producers hardest hit.
You’re right!!! It’s the one stop shop, That’s why they charge so much for meat... I swear it’s 2-300% more than our local small chain.
so SNAP subsidizes US food companies ?
No wonder food is so expensive,
We compete with the US government giving it away free to 54M people.
Less demand, junk food prices will drop.
 1) SNAP makes food more expensive like everything else the govt subsidizes for some but not all. Those of us without the govt subsidy have to pay more than we would have had to if the govt wasn't "helping".
 2) I read earlier that federal regulations are meant to make it harder for startup meat processors to get in the game. Things like must have the resources to fully staff an FDA auditor on site, which the mega processors can do, but the startups can't. Get rid of that and we'll probably see meat prices go down. Kind of like when gas prices are up we fuss about drilling for oil and/or importing oil -- when all along the choke point might be not enough refinery capacity.
So, kinda proof that government subsidies increase demand and thereby increase prices for those not receiving subsidies.
