Thomas John Pizzitola suffered a traumatic brain injury during an altercation near Pattie's First Avenue Lounge in Scottsdale at around 2am on October 11.
Police arrested five suspects on October 22, including Drew Meneses, who faces a second-degree murder charge after he allegedly threw the fatal sucker punch.

I have heard of several people being killed by one punch or blow to the head.
One will never get into a bar fight if one does not go to bars.
Lock them up.
Why is he in a bar at 2 AM?
At 29, with a new baby coming…he should have never been there.
Nothing good ever happens after midnight.
Nothing good ever happens after 9 p.m.
Sucker punch from behind? This should be more than just a manslaughter charge. Manslaughter is when 2 guys get into a fight and one dies. To sneak up from behind and sucker punch someone, that needs to be a voluntary manslaughter charge.
I wonder how often this had happened in the past.
Hotheads are everywhere. It wasn’t chivalry or toxic masculinity, it was criminal volatility and malicious cowardice.
One only needs to look at the mug shots to know it was mostly them boo boo. Super puncher looks mixed, regardless he has low impulse control and is a coward for hitting a man from behind. Neck tattoo buy must be the doctor of the group or maybe it’s Dr tarantula head can’t be sure these days.
If you are at a bar and see neck tattoos or nappy heads it’s time to make a tactical repositioning.
Bro....
“who faces a second-degree murder charge.”
That’s 25 to life and he is held on a million dollar bond.
Who said anything about manslaughter?
The guy who threw the punch was charged with 2nd degree murder, not manslaughter.
Look at the mug shots. This guy was not at the bar in the Ritz.
The article states that the person who threw the sucker punch is facing a second degree murder charge. Its on the second line above.
My bad. Somehow I missed that line. That charge is correct. For a sucker punch, he should be charged with 2nd degree murder.
I totally agree!
Getting kicked out of a bar for rowdy behavior... Been there done that in my younger days.
That says a lot and will probably be part of the defense.
Not defending the guy arrested but there’s no mention of interaction between the two other what happened outside.
How old are you? Life of the party NOT! 2am is not late at a bar for a 20 something. Don’t victim shame/blame. A sucker punch while being 5-1 is as cowardly as it gets, let’s not loose focus.
“ Pizzitola and his two friends had been kicked out of the bar for being too rowdy”
“at around 2am”
Yep, I think I see the problem.
