Sounds like an update to your device’s OS, because the font looks like the default font used here on FR, to me.

Are you on a Google Android phone?

A week or two back, there were a couple posts of Android people having problems.

It was some setting on the Chrome browser or the OS.

Free Republic looks normal on Apple iPhones using Safari, Brave, Firefox, and other browsers.

It's your Google phone.

It happened to hubby and me too a couple days ago on our Androids. And WTF anyhow? Just on FR so far. Changing settings doesn’t help.

The font size on my phone has shrunk noticeably when viewing FR. I compensate by rotating phone 90 degrees. Not a biggie but was not necessary previously.

Posted this on another thread that helped some people. I assume you are using Chrome as your browser.

Adjust Chrome’s accessibility settings
Open the Chrome browser and tap the three-dot menu in the top-right corner.
Select Settings.
Scroll down and tap Accessibility.
Adjust the Default zoom slider until the text in the preview is large enough for you to read comfortably.
If a specific site is still too small, you can often force it to zoom by turning on Force enable zoom.

Use the pinch-to-zoom gesture
On any web page, use two fingers to pinch out on the screen to zoom in, or pinch in to zoom out.

Adjust the system-wide font size
Swipe down from the top of your screen to open Quick Settings.
Tap Font Size.
Use the slider to increase the font size for your entire device.

On PC, most every browser will resize the current font with CTRL+Scroll Wheel.

On a phone, get the Opera browser and it repaginates paragraphs when you zoom in. Best old guy feature ever.

My android phone did too. In the Chrome browser, I mashed the 3 vertical dots in the top right and selected “Zoom”. Set it to 250% and all is well now.
