I want to ask my Christian friends a question:
Just say you are attending a big Republican Christian conference with well-known people speaking in a major US City. The week before the event, you get an email telling you that when you are not actually in the event, you should not wear your credentials in the hotel or outside for security reasons. What would be your response?
Dear FRiends,

To cancel the trip. And to ask the organizers why they would book a conference in a city that is so hostile to Christians and Republicans that you have to hunker down for your own safety.

I respectfully disagree. The conference is there as much as an outreach as a conference, to encourage the locals to inquire and participate. It needs to be supported in every way. Not showing up is not an option. There is a difference between banding together at the conference, and going out on your own there. Together, you're likely not a target. Alone, you likely are. Wear your badge at the conference. Don't wear it when you're out alone. Common sense.
God’s word tells us to be as gentle as doves, and as wise as serpents. Seems to me that some measure of guile is well-advised.
Where there are large groups of tourists there will be people ready and willing to take advantage of them.
So, carry protection, travel with group and research the area so you know where to go and what places are safe.
And always watch your drink.
Personally I always removed my “nerd badges” once I exited any conference. It IDs you as an out-of-towner if you wear it outside the doors, and looks nerdy anyways.
Plus given the very real anti-Christian animus out there, I’d say just wear a cross on your garb.
I am 6’4” 240#, so wasn’t ever concerned about some blue-hair yelling in my face, but other threat types are real, and need to be honored. Besides, one can never carry to/fr the conferences.
Otherwise, Joshua 1:9 applies.
I think it’s just used to describe the nature of the meeting in the hypothetical; I’ve never heard of ‘The Republican Christian Conference’.
But why would it be incongruent if it were the real name of an organization?
When you attend any convention you are given some sort of badge that shows you belong in the convention (and that you have paid!!!).
You a jew faced with this issue?
Tell ‘em you will attach your credentials to your holster when you’re out and about

Good Answer (grin).
Since that recent murderous ‘woke and offended’ evil spirit presented itself at events for President Trump AND Charlie Kirk, there is no reason to tell anyone on the outside about your plans.
The Marxists even with their USAID/NGO funding cutoff are all-in on their ‘Color Revolution’ activities and getting increasingly desperate by the day.
Whether attending or not, pray daily for a hedge of protection around yourself and those with you.
It is a Jewish Republican conference. And yes, there are many and they are growing. I was trying to make the analogy about having to conceal your religion in 2025. In many cities, Jews cannot even where there Kippahs anymore. Sometimes I cannot believe this is my Country.
Yes. It is a Republican Jewish Conference.
I guess I'd have to understand what are the "security reasons".
I see. I think people are responding mainly to the idea of showing your Conservative politics in major US cities these days.
I think in either situation I’d agree with those who say it’s better to be safe than sorry. Your organizers seem to know the environment you’ll be in.
If it is a suggestion or warning, fine. But I think most are already aware of negative, even violent attitudes towards right-leaning thought.
Good post.
I attended a lot of business conferences in my pre retirement days as well.
Seattle was a common location for those conferences.
Chicago was another location.
If you stayed with a crowd of conference goers you were fine—but if you were going to be alone for any reason you did not want to look like a tourist.
It sounds like good advice to me.
Muslims and assorted sympathizers do not play nice.
You should know this.
Anti Jewish hate has been a thing for centuries.
It is just making more headlines lately.
If you are saying it is the same as it was for Jews always here in America, I am telling you, first hand, you are wrong. It is so much worse than it’s been at least in my 66 years on this planet. As a State Senator, I am seeing it more and more in our political sphere and please don’t get me started on the extreme of our own Party.
It’s in Vegas, everyone is a tourist. I have gone to dozens and dozens of conferences and conventions through out my political career. This is the first time I have received this notice. I am Jewish.
It is going to be increasingly hard for jews and perhaps for Christians further down the road..
Islamic are pouring Saudi kingdom sized amounts of monies into the West ti change the balance of power.
Like Open Carry of Firearms...
Why Be A Target ???
