NYC voters run to the polls on first day of early voting — with impressive five time increase to last mayoral race

The Big Apple’s hotly contested mayoral race sparked a massive first-day voter turnout Saturday, with about five times more voters hitting the polls compared to 2021 as early voting kicked off, according to the Board of Elections.

The increase comes as a high-stakes showdown to replace Mayor Eric Adams pits former Gov. Andrew Cuomo, running as an Independent, against Zohran Mamdani, the Democratic Party nominee and beret-wearing Republican Curtis Sliwa.

The New York City BOE reported a total of 79,409 early voter check-ins as the polls closed Saturday night – a sharp jump from the 15,418 who showed up when early voting began four years ago.

Officials said 24,046 ballots were cast in Manhattan, 22,105 in Brooklyn, 19,045 in Queens, 7,793 in the Bronx, and 6,420 in Staten Island.

The numbers are staggeringly higher than first-day turnout in 2021, which recorded 4,563 voters in Manhattan, 3,751 in Brooklyn, 3,441 in Queens, 2,079 in the Bronx, and 1,584 in Staten Island, data showed.

Melissa DeRosa, Cuomo’s longtime top aide, touted the boost on social media.

“If these numbers hold, we could see 1.9M person turnout,” she wrote.

Mamdani, a Democratic Socialist, is currently leading in the polls by double digits in the race to oversee the city’s $115 billion budget and nearly 300,000-member workforce.

His victory in the Democratic primary drew controversy because of his far-left views and he failed to get backing from many prominent mainstream Dems.

Nevertheless, polls show the 34-year-old Queens Assemblyman trouncing Cuomo by nearly 20 points, 46.7% to 28.6%, while Sliwa, the Guardian Angels founder trails in a distant third at 16.2%, according to a new survey of voters released Friday by Victory Insights.

IF Mamdami is not elected this time you can rest assured that the Islamic Brotherhood will try again and again until they take over NY.

Muslims are patient, they think long term. Westerners are impatient and want change now.

Take a deep breath New Yorkers and Americans as they Islamicists will try to put their man in power, just as they did in London.

Remember the Leonard Cohen song? First we take Manhattan, the we take Berlin (Washington)?

Watching a few podcasts and Steve Bannon’s War Room, I predict Mamdani wins and it won’t be particularly close.

My prediction is not an original prediction, it’s based on how Mamdani and his supporters have run the campaign.

Bannon and others have made the point that the backers of Mamdani have run a campaign all about affordability, cost of rent, food, housing, etc., their solutions are insane but it’s all they talk about and have employed an army going door to door to sell their candidate.

Cuomo and Sliwa are fully embracing the idea of affordability, their campaigns are most about how insane Mamdani is and how he will destroy the city.

Mamdani is also going for the low information voter that rarely if ever votes...

That could happen. High intensity campaigns and hot candidates are difficult to poll accurately because they tend to draw marginal and disaffected voters to the polls. In years of working on the staff of a major state Republican party, there were election years when I heard some of best pollsters in the country candidly admit n private that their turnout models and surveys could not be relied on that year because of the intensity of the election and that public sentiment was highly engaged.

Only 3x in Staten Island, which is the only conservative borough in the city, so probably not a rush of Sliwa voters.

The Rats have a 10-1 registration advantage in New York City. So I want that Satan’s Lair burned to the ground. The New York Homosexual Times can reap the HIV/AIDS reward of what comes after a Muslim takes over. There are a lot of tall buildings for the Islamist to do their devils work.

If Deep State’s base would still voted for this, then why does Deep State have to steal Gotham’s elections?

Every news outlet- right or left- has had momdani ahead by double digits for
months.
New York has 8 million people - best they could come up with is Cuomo and
Sliwa?
This election has been over for months.

Plan C will be when St. Patrick's Cathedral is demolished and a mosque is built on its remains.

Can anyone provide an example where letting welfare dependents vote for more “free” stuff has ever worked out?

I’m waiting.

And since democrat voters are basically seemingly-normal people who routinely vote for abnormal outcomes, the analysis makes sense that one of the democrats will win.

Of course, the rest of the description of "democrat voter" includes the puzzled head-shaking at the outcomes and the phrase "how did we get to this point?" takes time for the outcomes to arrive.

My point is, people in NYC and everywhere else are concerned about the cost of everything and not being able to afford basic necessities, Mamdani’s campaign is all about the affordability of everything, his solutions are insane.

Cuomo and Sliwa are talking about how bad Mamdani is and barely touch of the affordability issue.

The opposition to Mamdani is ridiculous, Rudy Guiliani in not in the race.

Mamdani also has an army of foot soldiers going door to door selling the candidate to the low information voter.

Mamdani is insane, but he’s talking about real issues and has an army to campaign for him and the competition is non-existent, IMO he will win with ease.
