THE MOB!
Is this an attempt to regulate sports betting markets like the stock market, complete with Insider Trading laws applied arbitrarily?
IMO, the weak link in protecting NBA games from gambling hanky panky is the referees.
The bet to be focused on is the over/under.
Since officials can call as many fouls as they like, it doesn’t take too many “extra” fouls to award enough free throws to put the game “over” the target point total.
I’d bet my house it’s rampant in the NFL as well.
Oh, when your multi-millions for running around bouncing a ball just isn’t enough to live on.
> Portland Trail Blazers head coach Chauncey Billups has been charged in an alleged illegal poker scheme <
I clicked on the link, but got lost in the weeds.
The excerpt explains the NBA betting scheme. What was the poker scheme?
Will admit this while I perform a hit and run post on my least favorite pro sport..
If the NBA was playing a game outside my house, I’d close the drapes...
If the FBI was talking about the NBA outside my house, I’d still close the drapes, but might open a window to hear if they caught owners, players, and/or referees.
SHocked!
Shocked, I tell you...

All very interesting, but I would prefer that the FIB use their limited resources to go after the real criminals, those who have subverted our government, stolen from taxpayers and abused conservatives over the last, say, 30 years.
Billips is charged with attending celebrity poker nights that were rigged with a high tech shuffling machine.
It will be interesting to see if this investigation also has talked with one LeBron James.
BUT!!!!
BETTING ON SPORTS WOULD BE CLEAN !!!!!
Los Angeles Lakers?.......hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...............
The Italian families, who knew they were still around?
How long before they claim it’s racist?.................
That’s why Pete Rose should never be in the HOF no matter how forgiving Tump is. Being forgiving of something like that is virtue signaling. Costs them nothing the next time it comes up
—————————-
Pete Rose’s betting did not impact the outcome of a single baseball game. He overwhelmingly bet on games he was not involved in. The bookie who claimed he bet on a handful of Reds games said he bet on his own team to win. By contrast, the steroids gang, who are HOF eligible, impacted the outcome of every game they played in.
tip of iceberg. $150 BILLION market.
Right, so Pete Rose couldn’t get into the Baseball Hall of Fame because he bet on baseball, but it’s perfectly OK for every sports broadcast now to be sponsored by sports betting companies. Gambling is a sickness, and it’s immoral in general. This is part of a larger societal problem.
If you listen close you can hear the NFL and MLB trying to find away to hide their crimes.
