A London woman was slapped with a hefty fine for pouring a splash of her coffee down a storm drain before hopping on a bus, according to reports.
Burcu Yesilyurt made the split-second choice to empty “just a tiny little bit” of coffee from a reusable cup of joe down the drain instead of risking spilling it on her bus to work in southwest London on Oct. 10, the BBC reported.
As soon as the drop of java dribbled out, Yesilyurt was immediately swarmed by three officers at the bus stop and slapped with a £150 (roughly $200) fine under Section 33 of the Environmental Protection Act 1990, which makes it illegal to dump waste in a way that could pollute land or water, including pouring liquids into street drains.
“As soon as I turned around, I noticed three men, enforcement officers, chasing me, and they stopped me immediately,” she told the outlet.

No one expects...

the English Inquisition!
if she had thrown it in a trashcan... it would have just leaked out the bottom and gone into the same storm drain.
The fact that THREE cops were poised to swarm and pounce on this woman is what blows my mind.....you’d think that they’d have their hands full with muslims stabbing people in the street in broad daylight....but I guess not.
“England has turned into 1939 nazi Germany.”
Only for the handful of British still living there.
Or may be Welsh. Have you ever tried to pronounce what's on their road signs or town names while sober?
I think I’ll rethink a trip to Jolly Ol’ England.
It was nice knowing you.
guarantee you they wouldn’t have arrested a muslim peeing into the same drain.
Arab Coffee: Thick, black, bitter coffee, traditionally served in tiny cups at gunpoint.
So, what if she gets frightened by the cops and pees - which runs down the grain?

I hear the food sucks anyway.

I’d rather go back to Italy......after living there as a kid I’ve always wanted to go back.

This is classic anarcho tyranny at work. Many western nations have the same issue.

If only these cops acted as swiftly to hunt down and arrest Muslim rape gangs.
I was there two years ago. London was dirty, lots of graffiti, and even more Muslims everywhere. There was an air of menace about the place, an undertone of unease.
The Brits are watching their country transform into Riyadh right before their eyes with the laws clearly favoring Muslims over Brits.
Reminds me of the quote attributed to Voltaire (paraphrased) ... if you want to know who rules over you look at who you're not allowed to criticize.
She should have shit in the steeet and claimed she was an Indian.
I wonder where it would be acceptable to dispose coffee? Any sink I would assume would be just as problematic no?
I was there twice in the mid 1990s. Yes old in parts and lots of iconic sights but I didn’t get those negative vibes you did. It was a big city for sure but in some ways the neighbourhoods felt like villages. Very sad how it changed.
Now that’s what I call law and order. Three jimmy legs on one old lady over a mouthful of coffee. Good thing those three happened to be nearby munching donuts. It’s the UK way.
If she had merely been male and an immigrant, and raped a 10-year-old, the police would have just let him get on the bus and go on his merry way.
A good lawyer should be able to challenge classifying coffee as pollution.
