@RepThomasMassie
Last night, @SchmittNYC & I discussed the President’s proposal to purchase more beef from Argentina.
The America First solution to rising beef prices is my bill, the PRIME Act.
It would empower farmers to sell directly to consumers without corporate middlemen.

“Price gouging is happening somewhere; where on the supply chain I don’t know, but somewhere.”
The cause is the price of live cattle, not downstream processors and retailers.
Every week brings a new record price.
Strange...
No vocal anti-Trump massie or rand paul supporter seems to have an opinion on how joy behar recognizes massie as a fellow dem.....
It's like if it doesn't fit their gaslighting facade that massie and rand paul are 'true conservatives', only opposing Trump and his agenda because they are looking out for America, it doesn't exist
The US beef herd is down. Prices are up. Supply and demand rules. Massie would rather US customers pay sky high prices than let some relief via imports come in. Once the herd is built back up, we can reduce imports. I’m not sure what is so hard about this.
Have you ever had Argentine beef? There is nothing, and I mean NOTHING like it. In my opinion it stands out as probably the most flavorful beef ever. Too bad things aren’t better worldwide. I’d be at the frontline saying YESSS!!!!
montag813, I 100% agree with you. There is NOTHING better than Argentine beef.
You buy on the hoof from the producer, he hauls to a processing plant, you pay the processor to butcher “your” cow. Very simple. It is what a lot of us have done for generations. If you don’t need a whole cow you coop with family for four of you to get a 1/4 or you get a half and two others get a 1/4.
Beef prices and the cost of feed and everything else it takes to produce a cow for market. are up a whole lot more than the price of beef on the hoof.
If you doubt that look here.

No doubt they are reaping a comparative windfall but nobody is asking why or where all the increases are going. Slapping on more tariff or making deals for other beef is not a fix. The price of cattle and beef is unprecedented as are the low numbers of cattle. Somebody is making a hell of a lot more money than they did and using covid as an excuse.
What’s spinning is my head. You recall my Thermodynamics professor and his presentations.
