Huh, radical libs are saying Trump is desecrating the white house with construction, well Truman, lived across the street in Blair House, while the white house, was being renovated(with taxpayer funds).

I’m sure none of these celebrity critics has ever had one of their mansions remodeled. I seem to recall that Obama demolished the MAGNUM PI house to enlarge his Hawaiian estate.

The east wing building was utilitarian and quite ugly.
No wonder it was hidden behind the white house.

Construction crews began dismantling the East Wing on Monday, even as the National Capital Planning Commission (NCPC) has not granted approval for the ballroom itself.

A demolition permit is separate from a building permit.

There are a ton of posts on X detailing all the presidents, including many democrat, that have renovated or remodeled the WH. That includes reconstruction after some leftists bombed it.

The east wing was added in 1902...and expanded in 1942.

I'm sure the original Whitehouse didn't have bullet proof windows. Things change!!

The East Wing was built in 1902 and then torn down and completely rebuilt and expanded by FDR in 1942.

There is nothing all that special about the 1942 built remote East Wing and there is nothing unprecedented about tearing it down and rebuilding it.

This outrage is retarded.

More than ‘renovated’ - completely gutted except for the outer shell, and everything built new inside.

There is no “Lincoln Bedroom”.

Anyone who has actually been to the White House knows how badly this is needed. The East Room has been inadequate for decades, and giant tents on the south lawn, susceptible to the weather, were miserable.

These people just want to criticize Trump. If Obama had done it, they’d all be praising him for it.

The tents on the Whitehouse lawn drove me nuts. Same thing with chairs in the Rose Garden. These improvements should have been done years ago.

Michelle put in her wonderful garden...like there was never a garden on the Whitehouse grounds before.

BTW....John Adams, the first President to live in the Whitehouse also had the first vegetable garden. Michelle acted as if it was her brainstorm. lol

It was renovated for function and because it was worn out, not to create a Marie Antoinette ballroom where the rich and connected can celebrate each other.

This is a stupid move at a moment when crime and riots are everywhere, people are having a hard time with food costs, skyrocketing insurance, and the real estate market is dead.
But as long as the billionaires and elites can click Champaign glasses and tell each other how wonderful they are, I guess it’s worth it.

And they crow that it’s all paid for with donations? That is called “access” money, or less politely, bribes.

Demolishing the Magnum PI estate was another vulgar and trashy move.

Such a tragedy! I know I want our Gilded Age masters to only have the best.
