So, That's Why Cincy's Police Chief Was Placed on Leave

You knew something was off with the police response regarding this fiasco last July. In Cincinnati, Ohio, Police Chief Terri Theetge scolded the media for posting and reporting on a vicious assault on a white couple. The woman was knocked out cold, her face bloodied as she lay on the pavement. It was another case of what if the races were reversed, but Chief Theetge seemed more upset that some outlets were doing their job regarding this story instead of, I don’t know, suppressing it.

That was the least of it.

There’s been a lawsuit filed by Cincinnati police officers, accusing the department of workplace discrimination against white males. So, with that development, it’s no shock that the chief was placed on administrative leave for basically being an ineffective leader.

It’s pretty bad in Cincinnati when the ineffective, lesbian, loser police chief has the high ground in all this.

The mayor of Cincinnati, Aftab Pureval, and his administration are an absolute shitshow. He is a “defund the police” mouthpiece. For no bail. Selling long term revenue producing assets to fund totally ridiculous capital improvements and funding more welfare state activities.

A Dollar Store Mamdami.

But he will win the Mayoral race against JD Vance’s half brother due to demographics.

If you have to stop and explain, “That was sarcasm,” you’ve destroyed the tension that makes sarcasm work.

Cincinnati Police Chief Terri Theetge has been placed on paid administrative leave, city officials confirmed. Cincinnati City Manager Sheryl Long states the move comes “pending an internal investigation on the effectiveness of her leadership in the Cincinnati Police Department.”

Assistant Chief Adam Hennie has been named interim chief. Who is Adam Hennie? Cincinnati names interim police chief amid leadership changes “The City continues to face serious public safety challenges that underscore the need for stability at the command level. Therefore, I’ve named Assistant Chief Adam Hennie as Interim Police Chief. Our focus remains on maintaining stability within the department and ensuring the highest standards of service to our residents. I have full confidence in Interim Chief Hennie and the department’s command staff to continue their dedicated work at this time,” said City Manager Sheryl Long.

Long stated public safety remains the “top priority of this administration” saying they remain committed to “ensuring a smooth transition and maintaining community trust during this period.”

Mayor Aftab Pureval shared a statement following Long’s announcement, saying, “I fully support City Manager Long’s decision. I’m confident that the Interim Chief, our entire police force, and our administration will continue to put the safety of our residents above everything else.”

In a message to officers in the police department, the city manager stated, “In a period where we face serious public safety challenges, it’s critical we maintain stability in leadership. Therefore, I’m naming Assistant Chief Adam Hennie as Interim Police Chief effective immediately. Chief Theetge will be on paid administrative leave pending an investigation. As your City Manager, I am committed to providing clear command within the Cincinnati Police Department. Interim Chief Hennie has my full support, and I am confident in his leadership.”

The update comes as Theetge’s employment attorney Steve Imm announced he will be holding a press conference Tuesday morning.

WLWT will stream the 10 a.m. presser online and on air

Imm also represents former Cincinnati Fire Chief Michael Washington. City Manager Sheryl Long fired him in March of 2024 because of concerns over workplace culture. Since then, the city has been slapped with a lawsuit. That case is making its way through federal court.

Shortly after Imm’s press conference began on Tuesday, Long released a statement thanking Theetge’s service to the department and looking forward to the leadership Hennie will provide as interim.

“We respect Chief Theetge’s decades of service to the City of Cincinnati. Public safety is this Administration’s top priority and we are responsible for delivering on that for the public,” Long’s statement begins. “The City remains committed to a fair and transparent process that protects both the department and the people we serve.

“Interim Chief Hennie’s strong operational experience and steady leadership will help ensure stability as we complete this investigation.”

Up until last Wednesday, Cincinnati Mayor Aftab Pureval expressed full confidence in Theetge, but he later stated that due to ongoing violence, “all options are on the table.”

Theetge was asked to return from a conference in Denver for a departmental meeting with the city manager, and she has since hired an employment attorney.

During a Budget and Finance Committee meeting Monday, council member Jeff Cramerding briefly addressed the situation, saying, “I do not have any updates. On the issue with the police chief, I know that I, I believe I expressed the sentiment of all my colleagues that we are hopeful for a quick resolution to the situation that would be in the best interest of the city and chief Theetge.”

Theetge is the first woman to lead the Cincinnati Police Department and has been on the force for more than 30 years. The future of her position lies in the hands of the city manager.

Mayor Aftab Karma Singh Pureval was born on September 9, 1982, in Xenia, Ohio. When he was four years old, his family moved to nearby Beavercreek. His parents were both immigrants; his Punjabi father Devinder Singh Pureval came from India, and his mother Drenko was a refugee from Tibet.[ He has one brother named Avid. He was noted to have political ambitions from a young age; he won his first student government election in eighth grade running with the slogan “Big, Brown and Beautiful.”

Except for the city manager it looks like you have to be overweight to win an election in Cincinnati.
