Ford CEO Admits Automakers Didn’t Consider Their Customers When Going ‘Full Bore’ Into EVs
Liberty Daily ^ | 10/17/2025 | Patty Atwood

American automakers have long prided themselves on building vehicles that meet the real needs of hardworking families and businesses across the country. Yet, recent revelations from Ford’s leadership paint a different picture when it comes to the rush into electric vehicles. Former Ford CEO Mark Fields openly acknowledged that the industry charged ahead with massive EV investments, overlooking what consumers actually wanted.

Fields, who led Ford from 2014 to 2017, pointed out the misstep during a discussion on the rapid buildup of EV production. “Over the last couple of years, the automakers really went full bore in putting in capacity for EVs,” he said. This aggressive push came without enough thought to buyer preferences, leaving companies like Ford and GM facing unexpected market realities.

"...unexpected market realities"?

Were you all that stupid???

Nobody was clamoring for ev's outside of your own echo chambers and leftist government programs.

It was pretty much a foregone conclusion.

They ran full on to fascism. All these companies just love government mandates for the means of production. They were drooling at the thought of people being forced to buy their crap. And their major shareholders like Blackrock and Vanguard were all in.

Derp. Ya think?

Yes, there’s a market for Leftist Gaia Worshiping virtue signalers in Commiefornia and a few other places....the kind of people who live in cities and don’t have to drive very far and who live in areas where there are plenty of charging stations. That does not describe most of the country. Your market was always going to be severely limited. You were idiots to think the demand was going to be there for really mass production. Anybody with a lick of sense outside of your echo chamber could have told you that.

I am not so sure that it is a question of “stupid”, as much as a response to government. Insane fuel efficiency standards and insane amounts of money thrown at EV production give a different result.

I could wish that American auto manufacturers were fighting the “Climate Change” fakers in science and at the EPA, but they’re not. Perhaps government’s EV incentives are the reason why.

The 5 litre modular V8 was a great engine. I have one 20 years old and it is still running like new.

This is what happens when you run your business to please the Democrat politicians, instead of doing what you’re supposed to be good at. Unfortunately, it’s the consumers who will pay the price with higher car costs.

Corporate America thought the left had won the future and were all jumping fully onboard with the winning political party, now Corporate America is having to face that they misjudged the American people and turned on them prematurely.

They were counting on government EV mandates, subsidies and loan guarantees to continue in perpetuity. It’s that simple.

“Former Ford CEO Mark Fields openly acknowledged that the industry charged ahead with massive EV investments, overlooking what consumers actually wanted.”

Providing things that consumers want... “What a concept!” to quote Mike Lindell.

The Cracker Barrel chick was in the same boat.

Where do they find these clueless people?

That's OK, I won't be considering Ford next time I buy new, either. Turnabout is fair play.

They were mandated by Obama and Puppet Biden. The USA taxpayer was subsidizing this climate crap boondoggle to the tune of $trillions. Very few consumers want to purchase expensive electric vehicles that require expensive far away charging stations. It was an insane, emotional imbecilic idea from the start. But of course, these are democrats. /spit

Ford executives didn’t make a mistake. They sold the Ford brand name out for bribe money from Crime Boss Joey’s handlers. Selling cars is their business. They knew it was a made move but didn’t care as long as they got their money. Stupid is excusable with punishment. Criminal is criminal with strong punishment.

“Corporate America thought the left had won the future”

Much like John Bolton when he sabotaged Trump on many levels, and disparaged him on every talk show in existence. He was FA-ing, and now is FO-ing.
