Why is India obsessing over commentary on US policies?? From tarriffs to H1-B to access to GPUs and so on.
US is its own country and they have their own POV on what making America great again means. And let’s be honest America has been great for nearly a century now - winning WWII, winning Cold War, inventing internet, inventing AI and countless other things.
We can either scrutinise American policies to death to tease out impact on India and hope/wish/negotiate for small advantages here or there or focus on what’s really lacking in India.
We need to obsess about what we have, what we don’t have and what we need to do. Indian youth should not be wasting time reading and discussing American policies. They need to be making plans based on Indian policies, resources that we have and the opportunity that we can create. We are 17% of humanity and have everything we need to make India great again.
So much obsession about America is detrimental and takes the focus away from what really matters. What are we truly discovering in India? What are we inventing in India? Hiw many world class deep tech companies we have? How is our research ecosystem making an impact that really matters?
How are we inspiring youth in India to develop joy of science and consider career in research? How are we enabling so many well meaning researchers and entrepreneurs of Indian origin who wants to come back and help accelerate world class research and deep tech companies in India?
Can we have prime time coverage of Indian science and deep tech and not keep listening to boring and highly uninformed short term focused pundits commenting on US policy. It is a travesty that entire nation’s attention is captured with sound bites stemming from another country that’s doing what’s best for them. Same attention dedicated to what matters for India will do wonders.

I Love visiting India. It is Dynamic country with alot of young people. Get off your asses and Make India Great!
I would also tell India to stop whining about the British Raj too. India would not exist as it is without the British Raj. Without the British, India would be a collection of small countries like Europe.
