How does a mere mortal—in this case, an average American girl in a stars-and-stripes dress with a red cardigan—transform into a Beatles-esque global phenom? Taylor Swift was performing from a young age and showed potential for success, surely, but few could have anticipated the unprecedented level of stardom she’d reach. By pairing her talent and artistry with incredible entrepreneurial instincts, Swift is not only building a musical legacy; she has built a reputation for bold, effective fanbase development.
Swift’s early success as a teenage country music star was straight out of the entrepreneur’s playbook. She seized an opportunity that other people were ignoring. She had a clear vision. She wanted to write her own songs. She wanted to write those songs for an audience of her peers—teenage girls—and she wanted to put out an album as soon as possible.
But most executives and gatekeepers did not think this was a great strategy. Swift was told that, based on data and past failures, teenage girls were not a viable market in country music. But Swift persisted.
Swift has demonstrated a deep sense that her fans are hiring her to do more than write songs and perform music. Her fans want connection. They want intimacy. They want to forge deep and personal relationships with Swift herself.
This has been Swift’s attitude her entire career. She has always gone above and beyond for her fans. She has sent fans Christmas presents and hosted listening sessions at her home…she continually finds new ways to drop hints and increase engagement online.
No matter how successful Swift has become, she has always shown a special trait that great leaders possess: productive paranoia. The term refers to the ability of a leader to anticipate future change and challenges even when things are going very well…

Needs a BARF ALERT.
WARNING: do not read, this is negative knowledge.
Being blonde doesn’t hurt. Not being screwed up as the rest of them doesn’t hurt either.
Madonna could dance but singing is average. She stuck around by reinventing herself to the point where she’s now ugly.
I had an ex that told me a lot of these stars are a product of record executives taking photogentic types, providing them with the music and doing the rest. Madona, EnVogue, Spice Girls.
Taylor Swift has the talent and the smarts not to throw out f-bombs regarding Trump.
“Swift has demonstrated a deep sense that her fans are hiring her to do more than write songs and perform music. Her fans want connection. They want intimacy. They want to forge deep and personal relationships with Swift herself.”
Does anybody besides me think that’s weird?
An emotionally stunted 35 year old woman writing vapid songs for prepupescent girls. Very calculated.
She doesn’t make Country Music. It’s Pop.
This was true of the superfans of Rudy Vallee, Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, any one of the Beatles, Michael Jackson, Britney Spears.
Swift is more successful than any of those first because of the advent of social media which creates the illusion of personal connection, and also her keeping her personal life under strict control. I think, however, she made a great mistake by not taking the next Super Bowl halftime gig, presumably because she wanted ownership of the performance--half the nation would have watched, it would probably have been the most-watched TV performance ever.
“Very calculated.”
Every person has the responsibility to be very calculated when they prepare, enter, and progress through their career.
What we have here is an autotuned, pitch corrected, gyrating 304 with bad taste in men.
She started with country, back when she was one of the headliners of the Plant City (FL) Strawberry Festival. She was making her bones back then.
Since you and I are both nihonophiles, here's a version of "Shake It Off," traditional Japanese style...
Out of curiosity I listened on the electric computer to segments of a couple of her songs. They were terrible.
It is amazing how much money people will pay to see someone in a skimpy skirt prance on stage. I realize she is semi-beautiful but I am not ashamed to say I don't get it.
I'd rather watch a recording of Minnie Pearl.
Isn’t her father her biz manager?
Yes her parents deserve credit too, both for their financial savvy AND moral/ethical savvy. They didn’t take advantage like some parents of other stars have tragically have done
Another Tiny Tim story came true.
Toby Keith discovered her and signed her to his record label.
Taylor Swift's new album contains songs about wanting to make white babies and live in segregated neighborhoods and you're blackpilling?
We always knew her gunpoint conversion to wokeness was fake. She finally took the mask off.
Go Taylor!
When doing it for selfish gains there is nothing amazing nor genius about it, just selfishness full steam ahead. She doesnt care how many young girls she has influenced in unhealthy, unhelpful and evil ways. Again nothing amazing nor genius about it, rather disgusting and a lot to answer for.
No mention of strategy for writing decent songs that won’t be forgotten in a week, but whatev.
Taylor Swift is relatively smart, and has had great financial advise from the beginning , particularly from her father who worked on Wall Street
