Country legend Lee Greenwood has confirmed he would love to perform at the Super Bowl after House speaker Mike Johnson called for him to replace Bad Bunny.
The Puerto Rican artist is set to sing at next year's end-of-season showpiece at Levi's Stadium - despite a backlash from Donald Trump and his allies.
Johnson is among those to have criticized the decision to pick Bad Bunny, who has been accused of 'hating America'.
Trump called the choice 'crazy' and 'absolutely ridiculous' and the singer sparked more anger this week after he opted not to stand for 'God Bless America' while at Yankee Stadium for New York's playoff clash with the Blue Jays.
That incident came just hours after house speaker Johnson suggested 82-year-old Greenwood would be a better choice. And on Wednesday the 'God Bless the USA' singer told TMZ he would relish the opportunity.
Greenwood said that, given Bad Bunny is already confirmed for halftime, he could fire up fans before the game instead.
Bad Bunny - who was born Benito Antonio Martinez - previously cited ICE agents as a reason he did not include any mainland US dates for his upcoming tour. And, on Tuesday, Johnson branded the Puerto Rican a 'terrible' choice.
Bad Bunny is among the most streamed artists on Spotify but Johnson claimed 'it sounds like he's not someone who appeals to a broader audience.'
The house speaker told Migrant Insider: 'I didn't even know who Bad Bunny was. But it sounds like a terrible decision in my view from what I'm hearing.'
'It sounds like he's not someone who appeals to a broader audience and there...

NFL Thumbs Nose At America And Gives Ticket Buyers The Middle Finger - AGAIN!
How about someone who spans the centuries - like Reba McEntire
How about some marching bands and military groups like the US Marine Corps Silent Drill Team?
Or would that be offensive to the NFL ass-hats who have been stuffing bad entertainment, sexual deviates and anti-America propaganda down our throats for decades?
The NFL knows their audience. I don’t care for the rap/hip hop/Spanish stuff either. But take a look at the Billboard top 100. OUR music is not to be found anywhere near that stuff.
T Swift would have been the obvious choice, but the NFL did not want to deal with her. So be it. We get Bugs Bunny instead.
If they made the deal with Swift, they would have been able to double their ad time. They would have had every girl aged 13-30 watching that show.
I’ve dealt with the NBA, NCAA and WWE in my professional careers. They are worse than dealing with the Mafia. Honestly I hope no one watches and it ends up costing them a billion dollars.
There is nothing that any of us can do about it, except vote with our feet.
If I were the “other network” I would cut a deal with TSwift to do a 20 minute concert that corresponded to their half time broadcast. But all of the networks are in collusion with the NFL, so no one has the balls to do that.
LOL - At 70 now I'm sure she'd appreciate that. I never married because I couldn't find a woman like her character in "Tremors". The kitchen, the bedroom and the loading bench
(a sexist gun nut would say).
I forgot about Ghost.
Don’t worry about age; I’m fifty-four and will be head banging in the nursing home:)
I understand the dressing up, pigging out and behaving like a lunatic. I do that when Bama is playing, LOL.
Been watching “The Voice” and she’s one of the judges - when she sings, her 70 year old vocal chords still have a rich tone...
“There is nothing that any of us can do about it, except vote with our feet.”
Agreed - It’s been years since I had football on my TV - even at stupor bowl time....but the “fans” really are fanatical and don’t seem to care about how far the NFL has fallen.
Who ever picked this Bad Bunny dude? Can’t figure out why he was even considered. Some folks must have a weird idea of what American (the Super Bowl is American, isn’t it?) entertainment should be. I think Lee Greenwood is proven American; Bad Bunny.....well, that’s another matter. Of course if they do get Bad Bunny, maybe he could be booed off the stage at halftime.....or half the fans could get up & leave.
Why did they pick him? I asked Grok:
Overview
“What Bad Bunny’s No. 1 Means for the Industry
Bad Bunny ranks highly as an artist overall, particularly within the Latin and global music markets. He was ranked the #1 Latin artist of the 21st Century by Billboard as of late 2024, and was named the most-streamed male artist in the world by Newsweek as of October 2025. While overall rankings vary, he has consistently dominated charts like Billboard’s for 2022 and was named Apple Music’s Artist of the Year for 2022. “
While I don’t think I could name him or a single song he did over the past two years, one cannot deny the guy is popular among the overall music world.
And remember the NFL turned over their half time show production to Jay Z’s group a few years ago.
Being an old guy means that I don’t listen to current music. I have to believe that the average FR reader doesn’t either.
Objectively comparing the career of Bad Bunny vs someone like Lee Greenwood is not going to come out well for Lee. Bad Bunny’s music was streamed over 100 billion times since 2023. Greenwood songs streamed about 96 million times in the same period.
I don’t care about Bad Bunny’s music, and I hardly care about the Super Bowl. But if you are in charge of “delivering what the people want” as the producer of the half time show….the people in their demographic target 25-45 overwhelming prefer Bad Bunny over just about anyone else. I imagine Swift or Bieber would rate higher…but they probably were not available or willing to do the show.
"I was rocking out..."

"fell and now I can't get up."
Me too, if there is an online show by Turning Point a few Toby Keith songs should be in it, “boot up their @ss”.
