Country legend Lee Greenwood has confirmed he would love to perform at the Super Bowl after House speaker Mike Johnson called for him to replace Bad Bunny.
The Puerto Rican artist is set to sing at next year's end-of-season showpiece at Levi's Stadium - despite a backlash from Donald Trump and his allies.
Johnson is among those to have criticized the decision to pick Bad Bunny, who has been accused of 'hating America'.
Trump called the choice 'crazy' and 'absolutely ridiculous' and the singer sparked more anger this week after he opted not to stand for 'God Bless America' while at Yankee Stadium for New York's playoff clash with the Blue Jays.
That incident came just hours after house speaker Johnson suggested 82-year-old Greenwood would be a better choice. And on Wednesday the 'God Bless the USA' singer told TMZ he would relish the opportunity.
Greenwood said that, given Bad Bunny is already confirmed for halftime, he could fire up fans before the game instead.
Bad Bunny - who was born Benito Antonio Martinez - previously cited ICE agents as a reason he did not include any mainland US dates for his upcoming tour. And, on Tuesday, Johnson branded the Puerto Rican a 'terrible' choice.
Bad Bunny is among the most streamed artists on Spotify but Johnson claimed 'it sounds like he's not someone who appeals to a broader audience.'
The house speaker told Migrant Insider: 'I didn't even know who Bad Bunny was. But it sounds like a terrible decision in my view from what I'm hearing.'
'It sounds like he's not someone who appeals to a broader audience and there...

*** the Eagles (still going without Henley, have big Vegas show)***
I’m curious. If they’re still going strong without Henley, who is on the team? Any of the originals? Or is it the second set of Eagles? You know… Walsh, Schmitt, Frey? Well, Frey was early on, but he’s gone now, isn’t he?
So is it Walsh, Schmitt, and some new family members? I’m just asking. Are there any ORIGINAL members of the band that are still performing in Vegas?
Honestly, I don’t know. If you have insight, I’m interested,
“Man, if they want to use foreigners, Leonid and Friends are Russians who play American classic rock and soul.”
Yes great band as opposed to the usual milquetoast chick and rap trash that usually do the Super Bowl half time shows these days.
I would watch it, too.
Is that the CCM artist that I hear in a new movie I see the commercial for on Fox News? Definitely sounds like that singer... Either that or Mercy Me.
They’re Canadian.
Yes !
And he would probably do it for a fraction of what they’re paying bad bunny too.
TM
Yeah! George!
I found the movie it’s called Soul on Fire, and the song of the same name is by CCM artist Third Day. Older song from 2017. I hear that singer and it sounds familiar as I have heard that on CCM radio over the years.
Get a college marching band. Or a few of them.
BINGO!
I suggest "Weird Al" Yankovic. There's long been a movement to have him play at the Super Bowl.
I am a senior citizen.
Lee Greenwood is an entertainer and a Patriot.
Bad Bunny is a nothing.
I wasn’t going to see the Super Bowl anyway, any where, anyhow!
The NFL has led me to not watch their product and now I have added the College and university,”professionals!”
You do know that these athletes are paid by the colleges and “Univs.”
Don’t you?
Bad Bunny cannot lace or shine Lee Greenwood’s shoes.
Add Leo Moracchioli who'd have to do his metal covers with holograms, as he plays all the instruments himself ("Let me tell you about the time I played with myself in front of millions of people").
After such a show audiences would be re-assembling their blown minds for quite a while.
No matter who WE want or like, the fact remains that Jay-Z has been in charge of the half time show, so it’ll probably suck.
It wouldn’t matter if RAMMSTEIN or Nightwish performed at halftime. I won’t be caught dead watching the National Felons League.
I simply cannot understand why so many conservatives behave as if watching the stupor bowl and the NFL is mandatory.
From Wiki:
I was mistaken - Don Henley's still with us; it was Glen Frey who passed on. I hear he's standing on a corner in Winslow, Arizona - in stereo!

- As of 2025, the current members of the Eagles are Don Henley, Joe Walsh, Timothy B. Schmit, Vince Gill, and Deacon Frey. They continue to perform as part of their ongoing residency in Las Vegas. -
Version of October 8, 1979 (exactly 46 years ago today. Holy Coinkydink, Batman!) were incredible. They had Joe Walsh, personal bartenders and my group nearly front row to the stage in Murphy Center at Middle Tennessee State University. There was an amazing amount of indoor fog, LOL.
Greenwood would be awesome.
Same.
Keith Richards could be signed to do the next 100 Super Bowls
“after he opted not to stand for ‘God Bless America’ while at Yankee Stadium”
Want to bet his PR person told him to do that?
No such thing as ‘bad publicity’.
The ‘clicks’ are off the charts for him.
