A Midvale mother was arrested Tuesday after police say was torturing her 4-month-old baby daughter by doing such things as burning her face, taping her mouth shut and taping her hands behind her back. Lizbeth Hurtado-Breton, 36, was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of child torture and two counts of aggravated child abuse. On Tuesday, the Division of Child and Family Services contacted Unified police after a a young girl was taken to Primary Children's Hospital with severe burns on her face. "The child also has several bone fractures and a brain bleed and several other injuries in different phases of healing," according to a police booking affidavit.

The mother is cruel and stupid, but she may also be going through post partum depression. I have heard some new mothers admit they would have horrible thoughts and urges on how to treat the baby for the first few months after delivery.
But while such turmoil is happening, the father should have acted far sooner than he did. She doesn’t need to be around any children right now, maybe never if she can’t snap out of this mindset.
I don’t know if a four month infant can ever fully recover from a brain bleed due to blunt force.

Organize the Utah firing squad. I volunteer.
The father took pictures and videos. This was to prove to the police what was happening to the baby. Arrest him too.
So the father came home and saw all this and didn't think anything was wrong? He bought the mother's BS excuses? I don't buy it. Arrest the father too for neglect.
Torturing a 4 month old baby? This nothing more than pure evil. She needs to be removed from civilized humanity. No excuses, no rationalizations and no explanations will undo the horrible trauma the baby experienced and the effect on the rest of her life. At minimum, life without parole.
