Florida politician Anthony Sabatini has sparked debate over the H-1B visa row, tweeting a call for “a complete and total shutdown.” The move comes in the wake of President Donald Trump’s surprise announcement of a $100,000 fee on new H-1B applications, aimed at curbing alleged abuses of the program.
Far-right politician Sabatini on Monday tweeted, “I am calling for a complete and total shutdown of H-1 B visas until we can find out what is going on.” His tweet went viral in no time, given the ongoing debate surrounding the H-1B visa and its impact on the American workforce and the tech industry, which is the biggest beneficiary of these visas. Companies like Google, Microsoft, Amazon, and other tech giants hire large numbers of foreign workers on H-1B visas because of the high demand for specialised skills that may not be fully met by the domestic workforce.
The move has caused panic among foreign workers and companies that rely on H-1B talent. While the fee does not affect current visa holders, firms hiring new H-1B employees are now facing huge costs. Many are worried about how this will affect their ability to hire skilled tech workers from abroad.

H1B was supposed to be for exceptional talent, workers with skills that did not exist in USA, etc.
of course,
the federal income tax was supposed to be for only the “robber barons” to pay (and “the average working man will never pay a nickel in the new income tax”)
and of course,
the federal income tax was supposed to be very simple, just a few lines, and file-able on the backside of a single post-card
and of course,
federal income tax withholding was supposed to be only a temporary measure to advance revenue collections in preparation for World War 2.

Trump put up roadblocks before, and companies found a way around them.
Companies will find a way around the $100,000 fee, too.

Is there anything stopping a company from making the H1B worker pay for the $100,000 somehow? What’s stopping a company from deducting the amount from the H1B worker’s paychecks?
Some people are so desperate to come to the U.S. that they might agree to work for pennies the first year.
The USA CAN do it.
We just need to stop cranking out SJW and Psy degrees and start seriously educating our young.

The $100k fee is a good start, but it should be further stipulated that only senior level people are eligible, and only for a set time limit with no renewal. Current H1B holders should not be renewed.
If companies can train an H1B they can train an American.
Companies can and do get around this by setting up branch offices overseas, but maybe creative tariffing can even that playing field.

I have a great idea for a new program.
Make a registry of companies that “rely on H-1B talent”, and let them hire unlimited numbers of workers AS LONG AS THE CEO AND ALL BOARD MEMBERS move to India or Bangladesh, without permission for return to the US for ten years.
