“was stoned and burned at the stake for even trying to every time just like you are right now...”
I didn’t realize that I was stoning and burning you at the stake. I thought I was just discussing. You may have issues with exaggeration. (smile - meant gently, not viciously)
I’ll give you time to read what I just posted, but I think that the posters are responding more to the style and perceived attitude in your posts than to the actual content. The word “virtue signaling” has been used here. You responded defensively to it and suggested that the other poster was persecuting you and changing the subject, but your posts are full of praise for yourself as virtuous, brave, intelligent, etc. Even in your comment “Self reflection and looking in the mirror is the only thing even more unpopular” you seem to be suggesting that others should be able to do those things as righteously as you do them. But by glossing over the “virtue signaling” comment you show a lack of self-awareness and self-reflection even as you seem to congratulate yourself for those things.
Sometimes earnestness comes off as arrogance. Until I saw more of your posts I misunderstood the reason for your strong language. It’s really hard to do but I think it helps when we ask each other for clarification so we really hear each other rather than make assumptions about the reasons people say and do what they do. Perhaps other posters have misunderstood you, and perhaps you have misunderstood them.
So you think the smartest black man is still dumber than the average white man?
Guess I am just reminding myself that I was wrong... :)
If you really believe that about FR you should go to another site.
I really appreciate this post. I agree.
I wish the media would be consistent. Either mention the race of both the victims and perps or don’t. But don’t decide whether to include it based on an agenda. I think if the media was consistent it would either help the posters to feel like they don’t have to add the missing information (if they are earnest posters) or make it harder for disguised trolls to make comments to make FR look bad.

Well if I misjudged you as jumping on the same bandwagon then I apologize. But what I can share that might help you understand my position. It would be history, the same users come out of the woodwork to stone me over the very same topic. And they started it years ago by slamming me for even hinting we should give benefit of the doubt to other races and that stereotyping is wrong. And that if we want to get our Republic back we need to reach out to them. My position started off as simply suggestive and non-stereotypical towards others here until they proved to me with outright calls for excommunication that it was a general underlying consensus here that if you are NOT racist you are NOT Conservative and you are NOT welcome.
I mean look... To the point of whether you use a capital B or a small b in the word Black. Are you kidding me? How ignorant is that? You absolutely bet I am more intelligent than that. I would be embarrassed to even argue such a petty point like that. So would you... I read it in your words. So do I already have a chip? You bet, and they gave it to me... They are leading each other and my Grandchildren’s future off the cliff with them. If we claim to be the righteous party then it is time to actually be the righteous party. And one truth I can absolutely claim, is that I have personally sacrificed extremely over the years to personally do exactly that. I actually practice what I preach and very few here can claim that.
You not equipped with any knowledge to have such a discussion. All your comments with be nothing but claims of racism.
You know the demographics of the membership of FR??
The calls for me to be banned because of it are deafening at times. I am HATED here because I call out the truth. TRUTH IS NOT POPULAR HERE AT ALL! Self reflection and looking in the mirror is the only thing even more unpopular...
My, my....aren't you the triggered little Leftie.
You seriously need to go find a safe space.
I disagree.
But in disagreeing I am not arguing for absence of racism.
I am arguing for a small amount, generally what you might find in the general public, and for the reasons I stated in post #25.
And in a forum with Freedom of Speech, or as much as is tolerated, that will be present.
I have to agree. Context is important.
She SPEAKS TRUTH!
It does help to know the history. I’m sorry you went through that. I have had a taste of FR’s mob-like action so I know what you’re talking about. I do think it’s a sub-culture though, and not the majority of Freepers. When there’s a pack of them, though, it feels like it’s everybody, and when nobody else steps up to defend you it’s very easy to feel alone.
And I do think that some of the pack-like posting stems from feeling hopeless and helpless to change anything. Gallows humor, in a way. If you don’t laugh, you cry. There are some pretty sad statistics and some pretty sad examples. No point in denying that. But in the end how do we change things?
I wish there was a way to actually talk about the issues with the understanding that the goal is to help people, all people. Statistics and sad examples are not for gloating or proving a point. They are to tell a story that we can change for the better if we understand what happened and why. “Better to light a single candle than curse the darkness.”
I think Trump started a process that could lead to healing, if we don’t get distracted. He grew the economy during his first term, in such a way that groups of people who felt hopeless had hope that they could be a part of “the American dream”. Being able to get a job does that to a person. He got rid of the long, long sentences for people who have done less harm than even the mildest bureaucrat during Biden and Obama’s terms. By going after these gangs I think he will help a lot of families. By pursuing justice and putting criminals on notice he is making areas safe for families. I think what he did in his first term got the attention of a lot of disenfranchised people of all races. By catching and stopping the fraudsters who milk the taxpayers to butter their own bread he gives hope.
I think if the disenfranchised groups can see and understand that we are FOR them, it could open doors. And if that is going to happen we have to be as respectful as we can be. We have the freedom and right to say whatever we want, but I hope and pray that we want healing and that our words reflect that. Sometimes there are hard words that must be said, but even in that the goodwill and longing for the good needs to be clear.
I remember when I first saw “The Blind Side”. The part where Michael Oher ran away and found the dude who pulled a gun on him because he felt “dissed”. I thought, “Michael came so far and has so much potential; how could you even think of throwing that all away just to prove you’re a big man?” And then at the end the news article about a kid from the projects who was shot - with a side mention that he had liked to play football. What potential was senselessly lost just because somebody else had to prove they were a big man, or to get somebody some drugs, or fighting over a woman? I’m sure the idea of the writer/producer was to make us think of how much potential is wasted because of the world that Michael and all these other young men came from. How does a white woman like me possibly say in an unoffensive way, “I want better for you than that. I want your mind and life to be full and abundant. But you have to be willing to let go of the thinking that has you trapped.”?
I hope that those who do the gallows humor here are inwardly hoping and praying that people will find a way out of the world that created those criminals and their crimes. “Amish” or not, these are messed up people who need change.
In the end, what the woman in this video said brings up a good question: Why WOULDN’T a black woman want America to be great again for her children and grandchildren?
You have zero idea of the extent of my knowledge. And that is a really weak answer.
Yes, it wreaks of racism and not humanity. Not Christlike. It’s exactly the talk that would scare off the kind of people we should attract, just because they’re not like you.
With more context I do believe that what appears as arrogance is actually earnestness. When a person feels so strongly about something and needs others to know their feelings are justified it easily comes off as arrogance. I shudder to think of how some of my posts probably appeared to others just because I believed so strongly in what I was saying. I think we all know if you don’t stand for something you fall for everything, but when you stand for something it often ends up being standing on a high horse. lol.
Only God knows the heart, but I think he/she (not being woke, just don’t know which. lol) just wants people to show respect in such a way that all people can feel welcomed and know that we seek their well-being.
I also don’t know the hearts of the group that has been lashing out at him. It could be that they are trolls, it could be that they hate black people, it could be that they want to call out the media for hiding race when the truth hurts their agenda, it could be that they are tired of being told which facts are OK to notice, it could be that they feel helpless to change anything, it could be that they cherish their reputation here as a wise-ass, or it could be a combination of those or other things. But I hope that commenting on the race of people is because they want the brokenness of that particular “culture” to be exposed so it can be changed. I hope it is because they are sad about that culture and want the people stuck in it to find their way out and be blessed.
If I knew who the posters were, I would just come out and ask them. They could respond or not, but it would be good if we could all agree that we want the well-being of every person whenever possible.
But don’t get your hopes up around here. There is no compassion here for Black or Brown at all
...................................
I think this sweeping statement is what triggered many. I think I understand what you meant to say because you have bravely called out mocking and derision, along with a few courageous others, in the past. The mockers are a small group but they poison the well for all, which could make it seem like there’s no compassion here. Don’t lose hope because I have personally seen many stand up to the mockery and speak Truth, even in the face of being insulted in return.
The “yogi” and “GibsMeDat” jibes are more than earned.
Do we now police our use of “Florida Man” or “Walmart Shopper”.
Where I grew up, there were -gers and -gahs.
Even black (small b) people don’t trust -gers.
Thank you for your very thoughtful posts and kind words. You are a model. You have many valuable insights. Praying that Free Republic can grow and become an even stronger place where all from every background can unite to make America great again. I know God can do it for us if we humble ourselves and trust Him.
I have a pretty good idea.
If you know better, show me one Black Freeper who doesn’t mind having his or her entire ethnicity likened to an ape.
