TV station Sinclair has announced it will once again begin airing Jimmy Kimmel Live! after refusing to air the program on its ABC affiliates for more than a week.
The Maryland-based broadcaster announced the decision in a statement.
The show will air on all of Sinclair's 38 ABC affiliates Friday night, the company said.
Kimmel's show was pulled from all of ABC's airwaves on September 17 following his controversial comments about the suspected killer of Charlie Kirk.
Disney made the decision to 'return' the show on Monday.
The announcement from Sinclair leaves Nexstar - another broadcasting group with a total of 32 ABC affiliates - the only holdout not taking part in Kimmel's TV return.
The comic took to the stage Tuesday to criticize Donald Trump for calling for his ouster.
The episode drew more than 6 million sets of eyes despite being unavailable for roughly a quarter of ABC affiliates across the country. The network has more than 230 local-level television stations in total.
Sinclair said in its statement: 'Over the last week, we have received thoughtful feedback from viewers, advertisers, and community leaders representing a wide range of perspectives.
'We have also witnessed troubling acts of violence, including the despicable incident of a shooting at an ABC affiliate station in Sacramento.
'These events underscore why responsible broadcasting matters and why respectful dialogue between differing voices remains so important.
'Our decision to preempt this program was independent of any government interaction or influence.
'Free speech provides broadcasters with the right to exercise judgement as to the content on their local stations.
'While we understand that not everyone will agree with our decisions about programming, it is simply inconsistent to champion free speech while demanding that broadcasters air specific content.'

Weak effs
perfect example of the hypocrisy of everyone on free republic that still watches the nfl after colin krappersink and the knee grows disrespected the national anthem...
“Mamma’s Family” reruns would get more ratings.
Carson was a huge liberal but understood you don’t alienate half of your audience. That being said he barely contained his hatred of Reagan and it took repeated rejections of his “jokes” about Ron and Nancy that he was on the losing side of his audience. When Carson had other big liberals on like Reiner or Kirk Douglas they couldn’t help themselves.
Carson also aired during the rule of the fairness doctrine. Although he did get a little spicey with Dan Quayle. And conservatives weren’t happy.
Disappointed in Sinclair.
His contract is up in April, IIRC. Let him run the show until then do not renew. I’ll bet ABC talked to Sinclair, Disney, etc. and got them to agree to run the show, with an ironclad guarantee of no Kimmel contract renewal. Avoids lawsuit from Kimmel.
A media that far too many on our side are still funding with our TV subscriptions.
Good point! Hadn’t thought of that. We just have Free Government TV (no dish, no cable) and I watch very little of that. ;)
I’m on antenna TV myself. I can’t get everything, but I can get enough if I don’t have anything better to do.

I really don’t mind not having TV. I’m not ‘addicted’ to any specific shows or series. Haven’t been since maybe, ‘Cheers?’ LOL!
So much available on You Tube and all the Movies on DVD that I can borrow from the Library or find for 99 cents at a thrift shop. Even Blue Ray are only a couple of bucks!
I don’t know how anyone in ‘commercial’ TV is making any money these days - other than from shut ins, mental patients or those trapped in airports with flight delays. ;)
“ I don’t know how anyone in ‘commercial’ TV is making any money these days”
The vast majority of both commercial and Big cable TV network’s advertisements are big Pharma. Big Pharma owns television. They are pouring so much money into TV that the TV channels dare not say anything against big Pharma. It is disgusting.
Only two countries in the world permit direct from pharmaceutical companies to the consumer advertising, the USA and New Zealand. It’s time for us to end it.
That makes total sense. Pretty much any ‘commercial’ TV we watch has drug ads. I usually MUTE commercials, anyway, and neither of us are in poor health, so...
They banned advertising for Cigarettes and Booze - but I’m betting Big Pharma is WAY too lucrative a gig for TV stations to give up!
Excellent point. I gotta think on this some more. So many intelligent FReepers in one place! :)
Kimmel is much worse than Carson. Replying to the fact that Melania speaks six languages, Kimmel lied that he speaks Chinese. There is a difference between a joke and utter nonsense.
I’m so happy that Kimmel is back. I thought I’d never not watch it again. Now I can not watch it to my heart’s content.
