Holding the fort for 1910!

Good thing DOGE decided to bump up the auto kick out for Social Security to 120.

I don't know what age the photo was taken.

Most financial advisors figure you will die by age 85 and plan to that. Depending on your situation, you may want to adjust.

She shares a birthday with my great-grandmother, who would be 165 today, but died before Naomi was born.

I suggest a retirement nest egg where your monetary investments (not counting fixed assets like house/land) are 25 times your retirement living expenses. Thus, you can withdraw 4% annually and have enough to live on. And if your investments are 75% in growth mutual funds, the 25% in bonds/treasury/money market funds can handle 6 years' worth of market downturn (to keep from withdrawing the annual 4% from equities while they're down).

Thus, the 75% in growth may keep up with inflation, allowing the 4% withdrawal to grow most years (giving yourself a raise). So even if you live 40 years in retirement, you ought to be fine financially.

My buddy’s Vietnamese grandpa-in-law is working on it. He is 110. There is a woman in the local Catholic graveyard whose dates are 1880-1993. I attended her funeral.

I was messing around with Google AI yesterday for the 1st time. I typed my first name, maiden name, and current last name and hit AI search. I was very surprised to learn I died in 2014...lol I have unusual spellings in my maiden name and married name so it’s not someone else and it got my location correct. So maybe I’m the oldest dead person that posts on here...haha

Where AI got confused is I put a note on my cousin’s mom’s obit and somehow that meant I died and not his mom. I don’t trust AI at all.

sigh

The Gerontology Research Group is pleased to pass on news that Naomi Whitehead, the oldest known living person in the US, is celebrating her 115th birthday today.

She is the third oldest living person right now.

It was estimated in 2015 that between 150 and 600 living people had reached the age of 110. The true number is uncertain, as not all supercentenarians are known to researchers at a given time, and some claims cannot be validated or are fraudulent.

Ethel Caterham (born 21 August 1909) of the United Kingdom is the world’s oldest living person whose age has been validated.

João Marinho Neto (born 5 October 1912) of Brazil is the world’s oldest living man whose age has been validated.

João is the 25th oldest living person. Men are scarce on the lsit of oldest.

Top 50 is here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_oldest_living_people

Well, if 117 is old, 39-78 must be middle age.
