Parts of Russia hit by gasoline shortages

Gasoline shortages in some regions of Russia have prompted the Kremlin to announce an extension of its ban on fuel exports. Ukrainian drone strikes on refinery facilities are believed to be a factor.

The shortages surfaced in the Russian Far East and other areas last month, and have spread to the western Belgorod and Nizhny Novgorod regions.

The governor of the Belgorod region said on social media on Wednesday that the government had received a number of questions about fuel supplies. The governor added that efforts are underway to keep the situation under control but there are problems.

In areas near the capital Moscow, some gas stations have run dry.

Income from gasoline exports do not constitute the whole of the Russian Federation's income from the exportation of energy products, nevertheless, that the government is forced to enact such a ban on exports is revealing of the depth of financial problems confronting Putin.

At a time when Putin is announced increased VAT taxes because of shortfalls of revenue, Russia can hardly afford to lose additional income. I believe that the combination of deep strikes into Russia affecting refineries and pipelines, together with cumulative effect of sanctions, has completely reversed the course of the war in Ukraine.

I believe Trump has been briefed on these facts and that has occasioned his recent remarks concerning the capacity of the Ukraine to evict Russia from conquered territory.

Now is the time for Donald Trump to release the restrictions on the use of longer-range missiles to double down on the pressure on Russian petroleum production and its capacity to wage illegal invasion of Ukraine.

If the present trend continues, the Putler Regime will not last the winter. What happens next is anyone’s guess, but a 1914 deja vu is very possible.

I doubt it. In 2023 I thought the Russian people would have had enough and would rise up. But they didn’t.

Instead Putin kept his borders open so dissidents or even people who didn’t want to fight could leave. That seems to have prevented a 1917 like collapse

I would prefer Putin be given the Mussolini treatment on a vodka billboard than have a major escalation. Russia was a great nation once, it deserves a lot better than this KGB prick.

It must be remembered that the Russian People are in actuality serfs.

Serfs lack the leadership to create a revolution against the Czar and Oligarch nobility.

They tried it in 1917 and the result was communism and Joseph Stalin

Even anti-Semite isolationists like Henry Ford did not actually want the Nazis, the fascists or the Japanese militarists to win World War II.

As a knee-jerk isolationist, will you actually state publicly whether you want Russia to win the war rather than Ukraine, or will you evade the question?

Hi, Happy.

It's a beautiful thing that you read and post the Japanese news reporting in English sourcing the Reuters news, a reminder of how independent the media is. As the lovely Japanese gal speaking in English mentions "Reuters reports."

Given that Russia is falling apart economically and being beaten militarily, it seems odd that other news finds France and Germany telling their populations to prepare for invasion by the paper tiger.

As to gasoline prices, my cousin in California is paying $4.69, while only yesterday at Costco I filled up for $2.57. This of course tells something.....

Dear FRiends, Our FReepathon is our next concern. We still need to raise approximately $13k before the end of the month to meet our goal! And I think we’re gonna need a little prayer here. Thank you very much and God bless you.

By contributing at least $30/month (or $360/year) to Free Republic you can be a member of the Free Republic Dollar-A-Day club."You can contribute any combination of monthly and/or one-time contributions to reach this goal."

Or you can be like marcus, and not contribute ANYTHING but spam to Free Republic!

---- "and re-animate that American of American Media...."

Nancy Pelosi.

This is wrap up smear time. Get some news to report something, even if from anonynmous sources, then get another to re-report citing the first, and then get a bundke of media to report that there are many reports "about."
