Clearly the rhetoric is heating up. Pressure on both Russia and the EU.

Oh don’t worry, some here told us Trump doesn’t really mean any of this.

One day it seems like we are walking away, but the next day we are back to threatening somebody with bad consequences.

Dear FRiends, Our FReepathon is our next concern. We still need to raise approximately $16k before the end of the month to meet our goal! And I think we're gonna need a little prayer here. Thank you very much and God bless you.https://freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/4342356/posts

Dire consequences? Such as?
There is nothing that Trump could do to Russia will make any difference whatsoever in ending the war. Only imbecile doesn't get that nine months into his second term.

"...dire consequences..." IMHO, that can mean only one thing - they're planning to pardon Ryan Routh,
and parachute him into Moscow with a rifle (or a BIC pen)...

Russian state finances have deteriorated to the point that tax increases are now being imposed. The underlying economy is also suffering from consumer goods shortages and inflation, including in fuel, with winter approaching. In addition, heavy casualties and a lack of weapons and equipment limits Russian combat power against Ukraine and makes major offensive gains unlikely.
With Trump's Plan A of a negotiated settlement going nowhere, he may turn to Plan B, a Ukrainian victory due to a Russian military collapse. As fight aficionado Trump knows, sometimes the heavier fighter goes down from exhaustion, not because they have been out punched. The tone and nature of the threats to NATO from Russia suggest desperation and that Putin and his allies know that their options are increasingly limited and that the outlook makes Russian victory implausible.

Not a good idea to threaten people with more nuclear weapons than you have.

“putting enough on the table to end the war”
Until W Europe/NATO stops financing Putin by buying Russian gas and oil, nothing else on the table matters.
The US, Saudis, etal should be selling to W Europe/NATO.
