My X account has been suspended for breaking X rules supposedly as being a fake account.
I have been on X since it was Twitter, since 2012. I have appealed it asking what I was being suspended for (I had not seen their email to me yet telling me they did it because broke their rules by setting up a fake account) but afterwards my husband looked up my name to see if they really did that and he discovered there is someone on X using my username.
He reported this person as a fake account but when it asked who is the person they are impersonating it would not accept my username, which he put in, be submitted. I am guessing because they suspended my account permanently and it does not bring up in a drop down menu my username which is how you would report it. The submit button was grayed out and that person, the real 'fake account' is still active on X.
This person, btw, put up a post asking to survey any Muslims who have acted badly and requested them to write him on X. I am stunned HE (there is a profile pic of a drawing of a man) is still on and not me. !
To get help from X you cannot write them anything, you must choose a series of categories. None of which you can 'explain' anything. I tried these categories and it says over and over you have already got an appeal in the que and wait for their response.
However I have read of ones who have waited months without a response. Meanwhile someone on their is operating under my name.
Does anyone know how to contact a person that is a staff member on X or part of the appeal process so I can explain this?

Sounds like someone wanted your username and your lack of activity made that possible by actively using the username and reporting yours as fake.
Just create a new username with a new account.

Two or three weeks ago, a FReepers responded to a post of mine. When I looked at it, I didn’t recognize it at all...not in the least. I did not write that post, but it was using my name. Thank goodness it wasn’t anything controversial. Is AI practicing on how to do major screwing up for the masses?

I considered that but then being in an appeal process they might then slam me for making a new account and having two, because my account is under suspension, not deleted or whatever they would call it.
A friend of mine, a published author, had his account shutdown even though he’d paid for a premium account for one year. That was 6 months ago and he still hasn’t gotten a response. Same reason — fake account. I asked under my user name how this was possible since he is moderately well-known and has had an internet presence for more than 2 decades. They suggested the same outlets you’ve tried, but he can’t get to them because he’s suspended. Catch 22 anyone? Class action suit might wake them up, but don’t hold your breath.
It’s surprising some Leftist attorneys haven’t filed suit over this issue exactly, over breach of contract or some such, if they really hate Musk.
Or is this all simply more evidence that the elites are really scamming us by staging Kabuki theater, so, like George Carlin quipped, “it’s a big club and we’re not in it.”

Never did Twitter or Facebook. Tried Parler, Gab, and Gettr after Trump got thrown off X, thinking he might end up at one of them. When he didn’t, I quite them all. Tried Truth Social once they allowed computer access. Quit that a couple of years ago. I’m not a social media person. Been on FR 26 years, and have been content here. I’d rather sit and read a good book than waste time I’ll never get back in my life perusing social media sites.
Thanks. Did try it but got pretty much what I expected. It is all what I already did and there is not form where you can explain. It’s all drop down menu stuff and does not allow for explainations. Other drop down stuff ‘file an appeal’ I did that so many times, filling out their ‘description of the problem’ but it just says I’m already in the appeal cue and wait for their response. when I first filed I didn’t even know why I was being suspended and in that box wrote, ‘why are you suspending my account’ only later did I learn they were saying I made a fake account and once I had submitted my first question I was prohibited from submitting another description of the problem.

Everytime someone has trouble with one of these places and asks for help someone like this post invariably says ‘I don’t use those things, and says some bad thing about them’.
It’s not helpful and if you don’t want to use them fine but can you not see that another person has used them and that is the issue. It’s not about you and how you choose not to use them.
I want nothing to do with AI. A non-entity created by humans and fed info by humans, isn't something I want anything to do with. All AI is, is another platform like the internet for people to abuse, and to victimize other people with.
Ensure that you are not using that username for anything else.
