Hepatitis B is transmitted through infected blood and bodily fluids, often through sexual intercourse. Why does the US health system insist that newborns receive a vaccination against an STD at birth? Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s vaccine panel plans to re-evaluate the mandate.
The current recommendation states that newborns should be vaccinated against hepatitis B within the first 24 hours of birth. The Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices, or ACIP, has delayed voting on updated guidelines due to the controversy.
The vaccine panel voted to recommend testing for hepatitis B in pregnant women as the disease can be transferred from mother to baby. Pharmaceutical company Merck, who recently moved a multi-million dollar facility from the UK to the US, insists the vaccine is safe and effective at birth. Yet, there are no concrete studies to show whether or not the risks outweigh the benefits.
This disease is not airborne nor can be passed through coughing, sneezing, or close contact. There must be an exchange of bodily fluid, and the primary infector here would be the mother (vertical transmission). If the disease cannot be spread through anything other than bodily fluid, why is the medical community insistent on a mandate? Parents should have the ability to chose the best course of action for their baby’s health.
Health complications from the vaccine are rare, but never zero. “Six studies reported serious adverse events (SAEs) such as the requirement for escalation of respiratory support. However, these occurred predominantly in high-risk infant populations and were rare (~1%),” a study published by the National Library of Medicine detailed.
The study also notes a decreased risk of adverse side effects among newborns vaccinated after one week of birth. Yet, the study also explains the importance of catching the disease early. “Infection in the newborn or during early childhood leads to chronic hepatitis in 95% of infections, whereas infection acquired during adulthood is less likely to lead to chronic disease, with less than 5% of patients in this category.”
“I believe that this vaccine is absolutely critical for babies that are treated,” said member Retsef Levi, who has been vocal about his opposition to RNA vaccines. “But this notion that we sit here with very lousy evidence and argue there is no problem whatsoever [with administering the shot at birth] is not building trust, and it’s not scientific and it’s not what the public here should expect from us.”
The panel is considering updating the recommendation to infants at one month of age. “As people have asked, why would we pick one month? Why two? There’s no evidence that it’s safer at a later time,” Meissner said. “It’s an extremely safe vaccine, a very pure vaccine. So I think we will be creating new doubts in the minds of the public that are not justified.”
Others believe there is insufficient evidence. “I believe that there’s enough ambiguity here and enough remaining discussion about safety, effectiveness, and timing that I believe that a vote today would be premature,” Dr. Robert Malone said.
The bottom line is that we have a string of vaccines pushed upon the population from birth until death that have not been properly tested. Those who fund the studies also profit from the vaccinations, which is precisely the problem. Before Kennedy, no one questioned whether or not the guidelines coming from health agencies were backed by actual science.
There were very few vaccination mandates for newborns a few decades ago, and now, babies in America receive FIFTEEN doses of vaccinations during their first year of life—and “the science” cannot clearly show whether these concoctions are “safe and effective.”
The way Kennedy tells it Merck couldn’t get sales of the vaccine to adults as the FDA had promised so when the drug company complained...No problem. We’ll just make it mandatory for babies.
I thought it was already required that the mother be tested in the hospital.
As one who was somewhat skeptical of the medical establishment before covid, I’ve become completely skeptical and borderline cynical since. What are in the inoculations and how could one know?
Testing is good. I dig testing. I would like to see the safety and efficacy data of these things.
Honesty is also a good thing. I’m not up to date, but when I was a practicing GI it was recognised that hep B in America is a ‘gay’ disease. If a guy popped up out of nowhere with hep B, he was likely gay. Of course you also get it from heterosexual sex, but if you play the odds…
Rather than confront this as a societal problem, did we just decide to vaccinate everybody so nobody’s feelings get hurt?
Who knows? To be sure, I’ve been vaccinated because I was a healthcare worker. I’m glad I was.
I was around when these vaccines were first released. IIRC the vaccine is directed at the Hep B surface antigen or outer coating. The outer coating of the virus is stable, ie. doesn’t mutate like Hep C does, so it’s pretty straightforward. No mRNA technology is used.
Again, I had no problem taking the vax. I’ve been vaxxed for almost everything, but I did not get an mRNA vaccine. The shingles booster made me feel horrible. In retrospect I wish I hadn’t received it, but the side effects only lasted a couple of days.
My wife got optic retinitis from a flu shot. She doesn’t get them anymore. I had to get all of them for my employment. Neither of us ever got the flu.
OTOH I’ve had COVID 4 times in spite of getting the clot shot. Darn it.
This is the only reasonable answer. If mom has it, stick the baby - otherwise butt out.
In the womb, the baby gets its oxygen from its mother’s blood.
A newborn has been exposed to the mother’s body fluids for about nine months.
A newborn would have gotten infected before getting jabbed, usually about nine months before.
Your take is the correct take...and it should still take parental approval.
I see the secondary Armstrong bashers have re- surfaced….where is your primary? TXGator has gone silent for awhile, has he been banned from FR, again?
The haters and disrupters usually don’t last to long here. Carry on, Private!
hepatitis B can also be caught by sharing drinks. seriously, it’s very common in asia and they don’t catch it by sex.
all my sibling have it because my mom have it
my condition got so bad my liver failed finally a few years ago. i lived thanks to timely transplant that costed my then employer’s insurance 2 millions + . the story doesn’t end there, my liver failure did damages to my kidney, and i got a kidney transplant 2 years ago or so.
what I’m saying is, with 600,000 chinese students coming to america.. and china have the largest hep b populations (and it’s definately not transmitted by sex, since they have small penis)
it might be a good idea to get the hep b vaccine for your kids. granted, it was never an option for me back in the 70’s, it should be now.
just like the cause of everything else that is wrong with this country, follow the money.
FDA employees go to work for Pharma when they retire from civil service. There is the answer
“… TXGator has gone silent for awhile, has he been banned from FR, again?”

Newborn Vaccine . . .
Is that to keep from producing Newborns?
