Masked children have been caught on terrifying surveillance footage playing a Purge-style prank on a family's home in Alabama, with police warning that the TikTok-inspired stunt could quickly turn deadly.
Door camera footage captured the children running up to a family's home in Daphne and banging on their front door on Saturday night just after 10pm.
One boy appeared to use his t-shirt to cover his face and the other pulled the hood of his sweater over his head.
The boys then sprinted back into the dark, as the homeowners emerged out of their front door less than a minute later to investigate the noise.
Fellow residents within the Timbercreek neighborhood said the same boys had banged on the windows and doors of several homes on the same night.
Reacting to the incident, Daphne police warned that what may seem like a harmless prank could have incredibly dangerous consequences.
'If you're a homeowner and you see this on your your surveillance cameras, then you would only assume the worst, especially at that time of night,' DPD Captain David Smith said, WKRG reported.
'What they think is a joke and harmless could really quickly turn tragic,' Smith told the outlet.
The prank appeared to be part of a social media trend known as the Door Kick Challenge, where teenagers record themselves ringing the doorbell of a home or kicking and hitting doors before running away.
Smith noted similar incidents occurring in Houston not long ago, which took a turn for the worse after a spooked homeowner took up arms.

We as kids never did anything this freaking stupid.
This is in Alabama, not far from here.
Somebody’s gonna get shot..................
Play stupid games, win stupid (possibly lead-filled) prizes.
This will end tragically.
Home invasions are no joke and neither is this. They are related.
Those “kids” are 6 ft tall.
Already has. Article alludes to an incident in Houston where a homeowner chased down one of the “pranksters” and shot him. Since kid was fleeing the homeowner has been arrested.
Pressured and scared people are dangerous people.
And when you get hurt doing that no one except some low IQ whiny bitches will give a damn because, you asked for it.
Do I think you should be shot? No.
Do I think that it could happen? Yes.
Will I care? No.
This kind of is far beyond the childhood thing of ding dong ditch. Way beyond.
First off, anything but ringing the doorbell and running away, isnt ding dong ditch anymore. Hammering and kicking the door is not a part of ding dong ditch.
Second, the whole doing it late at night isnt part of it either. And I mean, late at night for kids/minors.
Third, if anyones wearing masks, that also isn’t a part of it. The running away fast is so they don’t see who you are. But horror movie type masks, nope. Horror movie type masks lte at night hammering on doors, way nope.
What these kids are doing isn’t ding dong ditch. Its beyond it. Whamming on doors at a late night time wearing fear-provoking full face masks, is not a good idea, any way you slice it.
“This is in Alabama, not far from here.”
Daphne is a sketchy “Hood” of Mobile.
There are no shortage of guns in that area.
“Door Kick Challenge”
Another FUN challenge to thin out the herd of feral youths. I won’t feel the least bit bad when I hear about one getting ventilated. Door bell ditch is one thing. Kicking in a door and bashing in windows is another.
“Let’s play Bet He’s Got a Gun”
Exactly.
I agree.
There should be lots more TikTok challenges, like the Eat a Fistful of Fentanyl Challenge, or the Cross the Freeway Blindfolded Challenge. On second thought, the latter is too likely to involve a blameless participant, so strike that one. You get the idea, though.
this is no ‘prank’
this is pushed by social media to spread across the country.
the left is spinning up their street thugs for a new level of terror.
Daphne is NOT a ‘sketchy hood’ of Mobile, where did you get that idea? I’ve lived here since 2012 with no issues, its generally a very nice town.
What a weird coincidence. Another creepy idea from enemy-owned TikTok.
Wonder if Chinese kids in China play this “game?”.../s
If the punks get ventilated, I won't call it "tragic". I won't call it "criminal" either.
I'd call it "justifiable homicide".
