Charges Against Tyler Robinson Revealed As Prosecutors Push For Firing Squad

Tyler Robinson, the suspected gunman in Charlie Kirk’s assassination, may face a firing squad as a result of charges that prosecutors plan to unveil on Tuesday.

The 22-year-old alleged assassin has so far refused to cooperate with investigators, who, regardless, believe they have enough evidence to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that he murdered Kirk, 31, during a political event on a Utah college campus last week.

Sources close to the investigation said that Kirk is expected to be charged with one count of capital murder, a charge that carries the death penalty in the state of Utah. Prosecutors are expected to seek the death penalty.

Charges against Robinson are set to be announced at 2 p.m. local time, with his first virtual court appearance occurring at 5 p.m.

Prosecutors will argue that Robinson was motivated by a “leftist ideology” that inspired hatred for Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA and a nationally recognized conservative activist who made a name for himself debating students on college campuses. Investigators believe he became “radicalized” online, where he discussed his growing disgust with conservatives in online message boards with gamers and transgender activists.

Robinson’s roommate, who is transgender, was in a romantic relationship with him and has reportedly turned over incriminating messages that Robinson left in a Discord chat where he confessed to shooting Kirk with a hunting rifle last Wednesday.

Roughly two hours before surrendering to authorities, Robinson allegedly wrote, “Hey guys, I have bad news for you all. It was me at UVU yesterday. im sorry for all of this. im surrendering through a sheriff friend in a few moments. thanks for all the good times and laughs.”

The message appears to be a straightforward admission of guilt, delivered in his own words, and if authenticated, would amount to a bombshell piece of evidence in the ongoing case.

Robinson was arrested last week after a 33-hour manhunt. After allegedly shooting Kirk, he confessed to his father, who called the family’s pastor, who then called a member of law enforcement to take Robinson into custody.

FBI Director Kash Patel stated on Fox News on Monday that more than 20 individuals may have participated in the group chat where the admission was made. The Bureau is also investigating since-deleted social media posts from a small cohort of transgender activists who referenced the shooting up to a month before it occurred.

Utah is one of 27 states that still implements the death penalty, and is just one of five that allows for the firing squad if lethal injection is unavailable.

The last Utah inmate to die by firing squad was murderer Ronnie Lee Gardner in June 2010, according to the NY Post.

Think of something clever to write on your cartridge case.

Let them appeal it for a few years while he makes friends with all the lovely men in general population, then shoot what’s left of him. Normally I don’t approve of resorting to prison justice to deliver the punishment society is unwilling to deliver itself, but I’m making an exception here. He needs to feel a bit of fear and dread in the anticipation of his fate.

That would be sweet! and I think once he’s pronounced dead, everyone who wants to can go to his body and piss on it, spit on it, do whatever

Yes, and so fitting. He was cold-blooded in his intentions and his cowardly and evil murder of Charlie Kirk, a brother in Christ, and he should not be permitted to walk free ever again.

Can one crazy democrat on a jury let him walk? We will see. I am not confident in the justice system when it comes to democrat party foot soldiers.

A 1-man firing squad with orders to hit him in the neck like he did to Charlie, then let him bleed out. They should set it up just like the rally with a little pop-up tent and sit him in a highchair.

Is this case to be argued in front of a judge or a jury?

“He’s NOT TALKING.”

He should. He did this for those he had been indoctrinated by and whom he recklessly supported. He fulfilled their dreams and now is worth nothing more to them. His wacko roommate/lover has turned on him, and the rest will say anything to appear not complicit and pin it all on him. He needs to talk, how and who indoctrinated him and overtly or inheritly urged him to use his firearms skills to assassinate Kirk.

And of course, the question is whether the message really means “Guys, here I am pretending to notify you for the first time so your complicit butts don’t get caught up in this thing”

By comparison, Grok says it took the feds 90 min to arrest Timothy McVeigh on April 19, 1995. He was tried April 24, 1997, convicted June 2, 1997, sentenced August 14, 1997, and after appeals, was executed by lethal injection June 11, 2001 (approx. 6 years 2 months after the attack).

I wonder:
1) Which organization will be first to file suit against the DOJ for whatever they decide to do

2) Which judge will be the first to order the specific type of justice they will allow?

An insanity plea is likely out of the question due to the level of planning and preparation required to carry out the crime. And I’m not sure how Utah law works, but I’ve always been under the impression that taking steps to flee the scene and evade the police would disqualify a defendant from even mounting such a defense in the first place.
