Fans of the Broadway star Kristin Chenoweth were furious at her publicly grieving the assassination of political activist Charlie Kirk in Utah on Wednesday. The 57-year-old actress - who originated the role of Glinda on stage in Wicked - mourned Kirk's death on Wednesday on an Instagram comment on the final video he posted before he was shot in the neck by a gunman from the roof of a nearby building at Utah Valley University.
The shooter is still at large as FBI Director Kash Patel traveled to Utah on Thursday amid criticism for the bureau's inability to quickly apprehend the shooter and for his decision to fire the 'legendary' special agent in Utah who would have led the manhunt just a month earlier. However, many fans of Chenoweth didn't believe Kirk deserved any sympathy because he shared different political views from them.
Their fury at the actress led several users on X and Instagram label Chenoweth is a Republican, despite her support for Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election and her previously mocking President Donald Trump as part of her stage shows.

Saw Kristin a good 15 yrs ago in NYC in a production of The Apple Tree, a really creative fun play built around Biblical themes, but in a casual an d good humored way... She is TINY like 5 feet tall, but to this day I have NEVER seen anyone take over a stage like her!
Agree. She’s a firecracker. That concert with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir ... she upstaged everyone else there.
Yes, she was younger there but I was complying with my own tagline: "Unwritten FR rule: mention a babe you post a nice picture of her.", and that was one of the best.
As I've aged I've come to appreciate character over physical beauty so often find older ladies more attractive now. Must be the Lord's mechanism that lets us tolerate each other in our latter years if you're not Hugh Hefner or Bill Belichick.
But here's a recent one for you. At 57 she can eat crackers wherever she wants to at my place:
They just learned the Left is hate.
