A Northern California high school football team has been rocked by a shocking locker-room hazing incident that was reportedly recorded on a cell phone.
At least three unidentified varsity football players at Elk Grove High School are accused of humiliating a freshman student by pulling his pants down and simulating sexual acts on him, two sources with knowledge of the situation told The Sacramento Bee.
The players involved in the incident were reportedly suspended from the team, according to The Bee, which reports they already missed Elk Grove's home opener on Friday.
Elk Grove Unified School District spokesperson Lisa Levasseur has addressed the allegations, telling The Bee that 'appropriate disciplinary action has been taken with the students involved.'
What's more, Levasseur's office 'has been working closely with law enforcement to investigate the incident,' she told The Bee.
A September 4 email from Elk Grove principal Rudy Ortega to the parents of Thundering Herd players referenced 'a matter that requires our collective attention and actions.'
'It has come to our attention that a group of student-athletes have engaged in behaviors that do not align with the standards of conduct and character we uphold at Elk Grove High School,' Ortega wrote, as reported by The Bee.
Ortega explained that an investigation will 'address the issue with transparency and accountability.' What's more, she said increased supervision around the locker room will be implemented while the school's 'locker room culture' and student-athlete conduct will also be evaluated.
As explained by The Bee, The California Interscholastic Federation is not responsible for issuing suspensions for players engaged in hazing, instead leaving those decisions to schools.

Sexual assault (or gross sexual imposition) committed by a male perpetrator on a male victim is by definition homosexual.

That’s why the felony crime in question is “gross sexual imposition” and not “forcible sodomy.

Our high-school football culture has created a class of privileged bullies and turns brainy kids into social outcasts. Time to restrict high-school sports to gym class.
Elk Grove Police investigated and said there would be no charges because there was no evidence of a sex crime or any other crime.

This is being misreported.
Happening right now with a local Catholic HS team. Ursuline High School in Youngstown OH. Video and photos. Shared via SnapChat throughout the school. Mother went to school. Nothing. Now mom has brought a federal civil rights suit since no one can get traction on a criminal complaint. Diocese and school try g to sweep under carpet. Community is not having it. Players are still playing and in the school. They finally suspended the coaches but the principals are still in their jobs. Absolute mess.
