Driving any motorized vehicle without a license is against the law, police say
A Prince George man was pulled over by police after driving a child-size pink toy Barbie Jeep along one of the main roads in the north-central B.C. city on Sept. 5.
And on a day that included a hit-and-run involving an ambulance and a prominent downtown business being destroyed by fire, photos and video of the Barbie Jeep quickly spread online with a mixture of humour and disbelief.
Photos captured by several witnesses show Kasper Lincoln wearing aviator sunglasses and cruising down 15th Avenue near Nicholson Street — one of the main thoroughfares.
Speaking to CBC News, Lincoln said he was getting ready to go get a slurpee with a friend but "got lazy" and decided to borrow his roommate's child's tiny car to get around, as his friend walked along beside him.
"I never drove it before," he said while laughing...
Hey, it’s an EV!....................
Wanna bet he was a democrat?
You're gonna fly away, glad your goin' my way I love it when we're cruising together
Pulled over?
Heck, that looks like a full on arrest from here.
The non-US Anglosphere has gone nuts on over the top policing. UK, Canada, Aus, there are multiple bad examples from all.
In Canaduh these days, a pink Barbie car is a blatant display of being white. Sooory, eh?
It’d be funny if he did it on his own neighborhood street. On the main drag it’s a hazard to navigation and a good way to earn a Darwin Award.
Surprised they didn’t try to PIT him.
“Dispatch, we’ll be taking the driver in. Can you order us a Barbie-sized wrecker to tow the vehicle?”
People will do anything for attention.
What is he, like 5,1”, a buck 10? With my 6’3” height and undisclosed weight I could get in that thing, let alone get it to move. Unless it’s one of those Barbie cars that has a V-8 in it
And shoot him 15 times from 30 feet because the officer felt endangered by the vehicle.
The arrest report was entered into a Barbie computer.
(I actually bought one of those for my niece back in the day).
Prince George BC is a fairly large city about the size of Yakima WA or Bend OR to give some context, so how would you expect police there to react to some doofus out in mid-day traffic on a main thoroughfare? It poses a danger in particular to the doofus but also to any random motorist who suddenly finds this guy partially blocking their lane in what is often two lanes of traffic with a lot of lane changing and visual distractions of an urban environment.
Also it sends a very bad message to kids, here’s an adult wheeling around on a busy street in a kid’s pretend car. Next thing will be a kid imitating that with deadly consequences.
So yes I would support arresting him and making the point that the roads are not playgrounds for self-indulgent morons. On a quiet residential street it could be good for a laff but not on a busy road like that one apparently.
Oh, C’mon! Like none of you have never never done this before!
lol...
I am surprised the guy was not hammered.
That is the first thing I thought of when I read the headline.
Similarly, there have been guys arrested for being drunk driving a riding lawn mower. It might have been on an episode of COPS.
FYI, my company deals with sawmills in PG.
I send a copy to one of them asking “anyone you know?”
Do people on electric bikes have licenses?
That’s one heck of a well built Barbie Jeep to transport a full grown man!
Those things get lousy mileage.
