Completely. I am a born again Christian and served 4 years active duty Navy. I’m not sure where that bit came from.
An Air Force recruiter I knew told potential enlistees, “We’re the only service that sends our officers into combat while the enlisted stay at the base!”
Christians are not pacifists and can serve in the armed forces with honor. When soldiers came to John the Baptist asking what they needed to do to enter the kingdom of heaven, he did not tell them to quit being soldiers; he told them to be good, honest soldiers (Luke 3:14). Likewise with the Centurion that came to Jesus for help (Matthew 8:5-13) and Cornelius the first Gentile convert to the Faith (Acts 10). Jesus and Peter never told them to stop being soldiers, and there is no record or even tradition that they did.
USAF would have to be the USA branch of Presbyterianism. The PCA branch is definitely US Marines.
As the seminary joke goes, the difference between a Presbyterian PCA and a Baptist, is the PCA can read.
Right. Nobody fighting in the American Revolution was a born-again Christian. God never told people to fight or go to war.
Conscientious objectors are pussies.
“the military, of which sole purpose is to kill and break things”
Boy, are you confused.
“USAF = Presbyterians: They’ve got all the money, they’re highly educated and you have to pass a written test to join - and it’s comprehensive. LMAO I love it!”
Life is funny.
I’m a baptized old school Lutheran.
I was educated in Catholic and Methodist founded Universities.
I stream an out of state Presbyterian church services
on Sunday’s and attend it’s men’s bible study on Wednesdays.
I was in the USAF at the tail end of the Vietnam war.
Bkmk
“”Nobody knows what they are doing and they ain’t telling anyone..””
I’ve always heard they have LOTS of secrets.
“”I disagree.””
So do I!!!! Sad that someone is so uneducated to believe that true Christians wouldn’t go in the military...
“”Marines/Baptists I guessed before it started””
The best one!!!
“”Paging Mr. Doss...Mr. Desmond Doss. Call on Line 1.””
Great one...great memory!
THAT is funny.....
... a true devout born-again Christian, I doubt they would be enlisting in the military, of which sole purpose is to kill and break things.
Pure and utter BS and an asinine statement.
FACT:
The Crusades were a series of religious wars initiated by Western Christians, particularly the Catholic Church, to reclaim the Holy Land from Muslim control between the 11th and 13th centuries. These campaigns were often framed as a response to Muslim conquests and were supported by the papacy as a means to defend Christianity and promote religious fervor.
Estimates of deaths during the Crusades range widely, with figures from one million to nine million people over the period from 1095 to 1291.
1000 years later and we’re still fighting Muslim scum.
Jesus broke things in defense of his Father’s house. In defense of the innocent, sometimes rough justice is justifiable. The key is humbly seeking God’s guidance on how/when to do that. Why wouldn’t a faithful Christian with strength and courage get a calling to the military?
bump
Yeah, that wasn't fair. He was supposed to eat the crayons they gave him, not write with them.
Which religious preference was the USN ?
Methodists............
