Sorry for language!
100% juice is also sugary. And chocolate is good for you.
And big pharma is lovin it!! Along with Pepsi, Mars and Little Debbie
It’s too bad Dems have an automatic knee jerk reaction to anyone connected to Trump because 10+ years ago they would be agreeing with RFK about kids eating too much junk food
Yes. HOORAY RFK Jr. Thank you, sir.
ALL people should be allowed to choose what to eat.
They should limit what can be bought with such cards. Booze, cigarettes, snacks, and candy should be off limits. Indeed, doing so might cause some of them to get off their a$$ and get a job.
I like his positions on EBT cards and vaccines but his personal life is a mess. His second wife allegedly committed suicide after his many violations of his marriage vows. He wouldn't let her family bury her and said he wanted her in the Kennedy plot. Then unbeknownst to the family a month later he had her dug up and moved to the far end of the cemetery.
His policies may be good but he is a dirty evil Kennedy.
I was just looking at the soft drinks on Amazon and sure enough, it says “SNAP EBT eligible” right under the Buy It Now button. It’s good that RFKJ is raising awareness about this.
Wow, I never thought I would agree with RFK, Jr.
The powerful junk food industry, CocaCola, Little Debbie, Hostess, etc., will fight this tooth and nail - and produce reports claiming their high sugar/fat/ultra processed “food” isn’t as bad as RFK claims it is.
And then there are the many, many foods purchasable via SNAP benefits don’t look like candy...until about ten minutes after they hit one’s stomache.
The glycemic index is our friend...🤔🧐
No wonder we have a nation full of lard asses. And all the heart problems and diabetes that goes along with obesity.
My proposal for welfare reform:
Cap Section 8 for a household at:
1. 40% of the HUD fair market one-bedroom rent for the first adult,
2. 30% of the HUD fair market one-bedroom rent for the second adult,
3. 10% of the HUD fair market one-bedroom rent for the first child,
4. 10% of the HUD fair market one-bedroom rent for the second child.
Make welfare payment for a child other than the first of a mother only payable after age 2.
Make disability payments for children under 18 payable only to school districts.
Have additional welfare benefits come out of a federal lifetime fund, say $10,000 upon which interest at the CPI growth rate plus 3% might be paid so it doesn’t get all used up ASAP.
SNAP benefits, other housing help, Obamaphones, juvenile criminal court costs, Medicaid ER human provider service costs, possible student loan write-offs, and the first year of Social Security retirement benefits would all come out of it.
To pay for that $10,000, the standard Social Security age thresholds might be raised by one year and then by say one month every four years as the interest compounds for a real gain of 3% per year. Working people would to a great extent get retirement benefits on time. Moochers would lose at retirement age considerably more than they mooched earlier. It wouldn’t generally pay off to mooch.
I feel no personal responsibility. It’s their parents or whoever is raising these kids who make the choices. But I get his point.
If you want healthy children - GET RID of food stamps entirely
The best and most healthy food is, ironically, also the cheapest.
General Mills is hiring a hit man as we speak.
I disagree that it’s poisoning them. Reporting hyperbole in action. It’s not the healthiest of diets, but it isn’t poison.
I too love him, or at least his stands.
As a poor Cancer fighter, with minimum resources, I get about $120 a month of EBT, plus around $80 from my insurance company...thank you taxpayers.... for food, and medical supplies. To waste that precious resource on candy, and soda is a sin against the taxpayers who are helping out.
With that said, I do purchase 60% Cacoa chocolate bars, it is definitely not candy. EBT is for ground beef, ground sausage, bread, bacon, eggs and milk. Cut up salad, cucumbers, tomatoes, radishes and onions. Beef and Chicken boullion, frozen chicken in bulk. Broccoli, lots of broccoli. Money is tight, and I pay out of pocket for food too.
With the above paragraph being true, I personally know people who get close to $600 a month in EBT. No, they don’t have 12 kids, and they eat like Kings of yore. Everything they make, as I have eaten with them, is greasy, heavy cream, many types of cheeses, fried, and likely $30-40 just for supper.
I survive on 2 meals of low carb food a day, eggs for breakfast, with sometimes 2 sausage links, and dinner of beef, chicken, or tuna based food, and either green salad, or broccoli. Not complaining, it starves cancer staying away from sugar and starch, but it is healthier.
I am considered thin at 180lbs, and the certain lady who cooks lavishly, is around 350.
“I haven’t eaten in two days” is a common refrain from the fattie of 5’ 2”, so she calls in Door Dash at 10 PM. THAT is a sin against the US taxpayer. ALL groceries are delivered, and I mean ALL. Disgustipatin’ as Popeye would say.
Food stamps, if it exists, should be more like WIC, where they get coupons for certain items, like dairy, meat (certain grades excluded), fruits, veggies, nuts or nut butters, cooking oils, baking supplies, Also venues for places like Farmer’s Markets.
