That’s $26,608,500,000 per year just on CANDY AND SODA

RFK Jr “We spend $405 million a day on food stamps. That's what the taxpayer is spending. 10% is going to sugary drinks. Another 8% is going to candies. So we are poisoning 60% of our kids who are getting food stamps.”

“The poorest kids, the kids who can least afford to get sick, and we are poisoning them. We are deeming them diabetes, and then we're paying for it upfront with food stamps. We're paying for it again with Medicaid. the rest of his life”

“”For some, they are excellent on a thread that is specifically a “Christian” thread, a religious thread, but when it isn’t, then the Christian influence doesn’t show up so much, and sometimes doesn’t show at all.””

I am, quite frankly, stunned and amazed at some of the comments here.

I don’t get that post except that it sounds angry and bitter.

As far as elderly and handicapped, there are vast variations among them, many elderly don’t need or want you telling them that they have to buy beans and rice and flour for the rest of their lives, they want to stick what they can eat, and will eat, although they have lost interest in preparing meals and cooking from scratch, if cheez whiz and crackers is tonight’s supper, so be it, perhaps breakfast will be pop-tarts.

Same with the handicapped, most of them function around the house, but if they are on food stamps for the rest of their lives , rice and beans won’t cut it, they may want to microwave a can of chile over a bag of cheetos when they don’t feel up to baking bread to go with their beans and rice, for the 3,000th meal in a row.

People can tend to resist positive changes to their diet. Or, even worse, be unaware that what they’re eating is slowly killing them.

I guessing you went to Mexico for dental work because it was considerably more affordable than in the USA.

Both circumstances are on them. No excuses in our connected world.

They need serious help, as do those who are legitimately disabled. But those situations are not being dealt with adequately either.

I agree that some people need help - especially the disabled and those with medical problems, But just pulling a number out of the air I'd say those are no more than 25% with the rest just parasitizing the system.

No, it’s not angry or bitter. You’re reading into the written word meaning or intent that is not there.

But you clearly have already decided What I’m thinking and feeling and trying to convince you otherwise is an exercise in futility.

But I refuse at this point in my life to engage with others who go on the offensive and demand I defend myself fabricated false accusations against me. If you had asked for clarification from me, this whole conversation could have gone different. But to attack and falsely accuse and then demand that I answer and am accountable to you. No go.

Since you have already decided what I’m thinking and feeling, I see no chance to convince you otherwise and see no point in wasting any more time engaging.

So fine, think what you want. Make yourself feel better and morally superior about yourself by engaging with any others and engaging in character assassination. I do not care and this conversation is dover. I will not even be reading any other responses from here on out, so don’t waste your time trying.

Have a good evening.

And need to be booted from it.

The amount of fraud and waste I witnessed is appalling.

Our connected world convincingly pushes false narratives.

It also punishes people defying the false narratives with truth.

Your mileage may vary, but for some, this might constitute an excuse.

Your tone just seems so angry, as does a lot of your text and suggestions and descriptions of people, along with ignoring the points in responses, SNAP seems to bring out the edge in you.

“ALL people should be allowed to choose what to eat.”

Of course, but that’s not the point. Junior is not telling people they can’t eat junk, he’s saying the taxpayers should not be paying for it. You are free to destroy yourselves, but don’t make us pay for it. A huge difference.

Vangiuard’s funds are market-weighted, so you should assume no political motivation for their stake in Coca-Cola.

I don’t care. Rice and beans only. They can go pay for everything else with their own money.

Disgusting. Why would you buy expensive, chemical-filled instant tea when making tea the normal way is practically instant? It’s not that hard to pour hot water over a tea bag in your mug.

Anyway, it’s good that it’s no longer available, as you would just spend our tax dollars on it…

You people act like private charity doesn’t exist! The government taking money from you at gunpoint to buy someone else Pepsi and Cheez-Whiz is not charity, it’s theft and is immoral.

“”You people act like private charity doesn’t exist! The government taking money from you at gunpoint to buy someone else Pepsi and Cheez-Whiz is not charity, it’s theft and is immoral.””

You people? And immoral? Wow. I knew it was anti-Christian talk, but now it’s sounding even more like bigotry. Have you ever checked to see just how much taxpayer money (federal and state $$$) goes into other things... like, for instance... supporting drug addiction?

Compared to $$$ for food for poor people, it’s astounding how much of YOUR MONEY has been wasted and doled out for stuff you would never have wanted (See link below).

But getting back to taxpayer money squandered on drug addicts...

Case in point: Decades ago (I think it was around 1985 or so), there was a write-up in the Houston Chronicle about this 26-year old guy that had ‘fallen on hard times’ that was being subsidized, by taxpayers, in a really nice building that was formerly a Charlie Club converted from a motel (nicer than the house I lived in at the time, in fact).

This guy had flunked out of college, never had a job or actually worked for a living, was a drug addict from his teen years, and yet was getting about $972 a month from the government on which to live. Nice gig if you can get it. All he had to do was choose poorly.

Now mind you, back then... $972 a month was a lot of money ... at least to me and to people I knew. Especially when it was money for doing NOTHING and I was working my @ss off, 40 hours a week for not much more than that. So, it always chapped me that this guy, who made bad choices in his life, was given a very NICE free ride at taxpayer expense, and I/we had nothing to say about it.

So yes, I do know how you guys feel about your money being spent the way you do NOT want it spent. I get it.

What you’re not getting... is my point in all of this about the government over-reach and the slippery slope of applauding government restrictions. And quite frankly, I’m about over it re: trying to get anyone to understand what I’m saying. I give up.

Have a nice day.

You improperly characterize banning candy and soda purchases with EBT as government overreach. In reality, the mere existence of the program is unconstitutional overreach. You should ponder that.
