A top chief executive has been accused of snatching a child tennis fan's hat at the US Open - with his firm now facing negative online reviews.
Viral video footage revealed the moments after Polish player Kamil Majchrzak went to the crowd after the biggest win of his career.
The 29-year-old defeated ninth seed Karen Khachanov in a marathon five-set thriller on Thursday - and then was filmed removing his cap and trying to hand it to a child in the crowd on Court 11.
But in ugly scenes, a man standing next to the boy reached out, grabbed the cap and stuffed it into his bag.
That left the youngster looking crestfallen and asking, 'What are you doing?' as Majchrzak walked away, unaware of what had just happened.
Now there has been a rising backlash against the hat grabber.
And there appeared online a lengthy statement in his defence, by someone purporting to be the businessman's lawyer.
Yet that was later deleted, with the legal official telling people he had been misrepresented.

Saw that. Pretty rotten.
This is the era of Me, Me, Me. Dems don’t have a problem killing babies, so snatching a hat from a kid doesn’t even resister with them. This guy would do nothing had the internet not exposed him. Now he will claim (through his lawyers) it was a misunderstanding. Let’s see if the kid gets his hat back.
At sporting events, there is no limit to how greedy people will get.

The man who stole the hat from the boy's hand was identified as Piotr Szczerek, owner of the Polish paving company DrogBruk...
After seeing the video, tennis player Kamil Majchrzak searched for and found the boy, giving him a new hat.
Thank you for that update.
When I was a kid it was other kids—not adults— who took stuff away from me. I haven’t been a kid for over 60 years. But now I have stuff taken away from me by adults. At least I had training early on, to prep me for what I was gonna be up against later on.
I sincerely hope he’s trashed at work and at home. A totally despicable act, just like that woman who took away a home run ball from that kid.
I do hope the ultimate peace settlement has Putin returning the Super Bowl Ring he took from Robert Kraft.
Majchrzak, who didn’t realize what had happened at first, later wrote on Instagram: “Please help me find the boy. I want to give him another cap and make things right.” Within an hour, the child was found and given a replacement cap. Still, the incident sparked wider debate about sportsmanship and how fans should behave.
Who is Piotr Szczerek?
The man in the viral video, Piotr Szczerek, is a Polish businessman and sports enthusiast. He is the CEO of Drogbruk, a paving company he started with his wife in 1999. The company is based in Błaszki and is now one of the leaders in Poland’s paving industry.
In an interview with Tennis Magazyn, Szczerek spoke about his journey, saying he was inspired during his studies at Poznań University of Technology: “The paving industry was growing fast, so my wife and I decided to start our own company in our hometown.”
Over the years, Drogbruk has supported many sports projects, from local basketball games to international tournaments like the Davis Cup. The company also runs the DROGBRUK TEAM program to support young Polish athletes and regularly takes part in charity events.
Szczerek is also passionate about sports himself. He joked in the same interview: “Tennis was difficult at first. I got a good beating from my wife,” explaining that he now plays in the second division of the Kalisz Tennis Association after starting in the sixth. He also spoke about his passion for endurance sports: “I finished the Warsaw Marathon in 3 hours 46 minutes. Now I’m thinking about completing an Ironman. I’m always setting new goals, but this would probably be the pinnacle of my passion.”
‘Maturity doesn’t come with age’
Netizens slammed the man’s behaviour. A user noted, “Maturity doesn’t come with age, but the acts.” Another noted, “Wonder how long his company is going to last.” ” Let’s spread his greedy stealing face and company name all over the net,” wrote a netizen. “Such a shame,”claimed a user. “This guy name is Piotr Szczerek, Polish businessman. Thanks God, Internet community never fails,” added another.
This is also the era of $2,000 prices for seats in those sections of the stands (and that’s just in the EARLY rounds) at the U.S. Open, so it doesn’t surprise me that many of those fans have an entitlement mentality when it comes to “perks” like autographs, memorabilia, etc.
His wife is just as bad. The video I saw shows a woman smiling and taking a selfie with him after he stole the hat.
Saw the clip over & over on NEWSMAX. Disgusting.
When am I going to learn not to even bother trying to see a video on Daily Mail. I’ve learned not to bother with the NY Post, Breitbart and one or two others. There were maybe ten videos I could have looked at but NONE of them was this tennis thing. There was just still shot. I’m done with Daily Mail.
What was his name? Bartman, something like that.
It WILL be interesting to see how long this selfish b@stard of being stays in business.
Hopefully, the Poles in Blaszki will return the serve! (pun intended :)
See post 5 there is a vid link, there.
No telling, and I won’t even venture a guess. Too many unknowns for me. I know very little about the Polish people. 😋👍
