On Aug 11, Russian soldiers breached Ukraine’s front-line defences and penetrated at least six miles behind enemy lines.
Battlefield maps, kept studiously up to date by open-source intelligence groups, showed a red tendril reaching north into Ukraine’s territory through several villages in the contested eastern Donetsk region coveted by Vladimir Putin, the Russian president.
The advance set off alarm bells among Kyiv’s supporters, who feared it marked the start of an offensive aimed at the stronghold city of Kostiantynivka or the logistical hub of Pokrovsk, both of which could provide Russia with a foothold in Ukraine’s fortress belt.
What Russian soldiers did not know was that Ukrainian forces had discovered the attack before the mission even began. In response, on Aug 12, Ukrainian forces began what Ukraine’s General Staff euphemistically referred to as “active measures”.
Within days of the offensive, Russian soldiers found themselves surrounded by the Azov Corps, one of Ukraine’s elite forces. The incursion, one of the deepest since the shift to attritional warfare, quickly became a costly and deadly failure.

This grim Russian tactic has become a feature of the war as Moscow probes for weaknesses in Ukraine’s defences. Small groups of Russian soldiers are sent forward on motorcycles, dirt bikes and electric scooters without support to break through Ukrainian lines at speed

My side is America, not some two-bit grifter or a re-purposed KGB guy.
It stuns me that the lying, Gaslighting Media still has the power to pull the wool over the eyes of its consumers, with so many alternatives available.
Zeepers think everybody is eastern European and they don’t seem to get that most Americans don’t have an emotional connection to this war. We can be more logical and objective because we don’t have Ukrainian, Russian, Slav or any eastern European heritage; we’re Americans.
Hey, POGO163, what was your previous FR handle? Do you still hate white, native born Americans? 😁
Meant to include you on Post 24.
Yes, sorry.
I can’t imagine Russia trusting Russophobic Brits spoiling for war with Russia…as “ peacekeepers”
Minsk didn’t work out so well with European “ monitors”
According to Zeepers, this occurred more than 2 years ago as RuZZia! was forced to cannibalize dishwashers for electronic components, was out of missiles, ammunition, Putin was on the verge of death from 19 ailments, and almost 100 million RuZZians! had died. Also potatoes were extinct.
1) I have heard no peacekeeper proposals that were not predicated on there being a ceasefire. None.
2) If there is no ceasefire, then all the discussion of peacekeepers would seem to have no point.
3) It looks pretty clear that there will be no unconditional ceasefire, and Ukraine will not accept the conditions under which Russia would allow a ceasefire.
And so, why is there any talk of peacekeepers?
The Russian Army revolted in 1917 or more recently, the Wagner Group led by Yevgeny Prigozhin, marched on Moscow two years ago.
The Russian army didn’t revolt in 1917 and the Wagner group isn’t affiliated with the Russian army
They’d be better off sending them to Jita 4-4 for hookers and blow.
You are funny.
You are funny. Three years ago St Z said he will kick out the Russians and reclaim Crimea….today he is crying for a freeze in the lines and a Ceasefire….
Did I say you and your cheerleaders you are funny?
Nazis killing Commies.
I’m totally okay with this.
Let’s hope both sides fight to the last man and those two manage somehow to kill each other.

Pay up, spammer.
If that’s the case, Putin really screwed his own pooch.
He may have gained some land, but he ends up with Euro troops right on that border, and Euro-NATO defense spending more than doubled. He could have easily forced a solution without invading Ukraine, in which Ukraine was allowed into NATO eventually, but, much as happened with the former East Germany, only Ukrainian troops would be in Ukraine, and no long range NATO weapons would be in Ukraine. To this day, the Baker promise to Goby has been kept: The only NATO troops in the former East Germany are Germans. Even more important, Euro-NATO would have stayed mired in complacency. I highly doubt it would have even made the 2% of GDP defense spending goal, while huge Russian oil and gas profits would have continued.
Crushed.
And yet the front continually moves Westward.
Russia has adapted too.
They plan an objective. Spend days/weeks FABing and droning any Ukr that peeks out of their holes.
Create a cauldron around 3/4s of the objective.
Then send in dozens of 4 man teams to clear the trenches and chase out UKR forces.
Rinse and repeat.
