Headless body near Waffle House - cops try to solve ‘gory’ mystery in Nashville

A mysterious headless corpse was found rotting in a wooded strip flanked by two fast-food joints in Tennessee — and cops have no idea how long it had been there, according to reports.

Authorities responded to the grim scene after a women stumbled upon a cluster of heavily decomposed bones in the woods behind a McDonald’s and Waffle House in Nashville Friday morning, WSMV reported.

A severely crumbling skull was then found roughly 100 feet from the gruesome decapitated remains, according to the Metro Nashville Police Department.

“It is unclear at this point who this person is, how this person got there,” a police spokesperson said, adding that the gender and age of the unidentified skeletal corpse is still unknown.

“Given the heat and the woods and the nature of how this person was found it’s extremely difficult for officers to see and four our CSI team to photograph and capture.”

Officials have yet to confirm if the severed head belongs to the putrefying bones, the outlet reported.

The horrific discovery left workers at the quick-service eateries in shock.

“It’s pretty gory, that’s crazy,” worker Tom Keesee told the outlet.

There is a lot of homeless people in Nashville, And I have no idea where the location is but it’s been in the news all week in Nashville. I’ve drove though a few neighbor hood a few times, and practically I could see any of those neighborhoods as being one of the places this happened. As mentioned in one of the other comments, it is probably drug and/or gang related.

If there is a Waffle House, chances are there is a dead body somewhere in the area. As far as the head being apart from the rest of the decomposed body, it could have been a wandering pooch who found something to gnaw on.

Biden imported South American gangsters who love filming themselves chopping up people alive. And the democrats are fighting like hell to keep them here.

Meh. An animal may have dragged the skull away from the rest of the skeleton.

Sure, because it's in Tennessee by a Waffle House. When someone jumps off the Empire State Bldg and turns into a pancake, it's never in the news or on top 40. 😁

It may not have had much holding it on, at the time. The shoulder blades would be easy to drag off, too, unless clothing made it difficult. I used to hunt antlers. If I found a shoulder blade, I’d start circling around. There would often be an unrecovered kill from a hunter nearby. There’s little holding a shoulder on a body that is decaying.

However, in this case the fast-food joints must have overridden the smell.

Behind the Waffle House? Maybe the smell of some of the customers masked the odor of decay.

Well I did post this earlier today about AI:

The Good News is that a Jenga tower can only be built so high before it comes crashing down. My human brain observes that this happened 40 years ago:

AI Overview (😉)

The record for the tallest Jenga tower built under the standard game rules is 40 complete levels plus two blocks into the 41st, achieved by Robert Grebler in 1985. More recently, different types of records for Jenga stacking have been set, including the most blocks stacked horizontally on a single vertical block, with Tian Rui achieving 3,149 blocks in April 2025.

The wooded area behind McDonald’s on the corner of 3300 Dickerson Pike and Homestead Road. Out where those nice girls hang out just trying to raise money for college.

Forensics will have to determine if the body was smothered, covered, chunked, diced, peppered, capped, topped or countried.

It seems strange that an animal would chew the head off. I’ll admit I’m not an expert.

It's not unknown. Among mountain lions, for one. After a big cat has gone for your jugular, there's not a lot holding your head on, especially if you're small-framed or a child.

Lawyer: “Doctor, before you performed the autopsy, did you check for a pulse?”

Witness: “No.”

Lawyer: “Did you check for blood pressure?”

Witness: “No.”

Lawyer: “Did you check for breathing?”

Witness: “No.”

Lawyer: “So, then it is possible that the patient was alive when you began the autopsy?”

Witness: “No.”

Lawyer: “How can you be so sure, Doctor?”

Witness: “Because his brain was sitting on my desk in a jar.”

Lawyer: “But could the patient have still been alive nevertheless?”

Witness: “Yes, it is possible that he could have been alive and practicing law somewhere.”
