I believe Alice In Chains was the best of the “grunge” bands. Killer songwriting, great harmonies, bitchin’ guitar, and no whiney frontman shilling for the left.
AIC continues recording and performing. Willam Duvall is an outstanding addition to the band. He helped keep them relevant AND influential.
If you’re in Seattle, I envy your ability to catch this show. There is one on the east coast in November.
I was at Lollapalooza 1992 at the Kitsap County Fairgrounds, where the headliners were Red Hot Chili Peppers, Pearl Jam, and Soundgarden. In the drizzle.
Watched this unplugged AIC over and over.
What a voice. and the guitar, but Layne ....
Best grunge band IMHO
A band that managed to sound original and never insult the listener. One of those bands where 10 or 20 years later, you realize what a great song it was.
Ping!
Bump
I was backstage with Alice In Chains and Gruntruck at the Norfolk Boat House in 92. That was... interesting.
Layne basically gave up on life after his ex-fiancé OD’d.
Everyone in the band seemed to be a mess in the 1990s, except Sean Kinney who always looked like he was working out.
I’m glad they still perform and record. The post-Layne albums are killer.
This is a good one - What the hell have I
I can’t watch the Unplugged show because if I do I can’t get those songs out of my head for a week.
After that I couldn’t help but read about that young man more. :(
Did you see the country star Gretchen Wilson and the AIC band Rock out the song “Barracuda” ?
Whoa. Didn’t see it. Gotta look that up.
